Picked up a bottle of this from Julio's. Stuff isnt too bad, I wonder how this would have been very fresh though...
A - Pours really, really nicely. A fluffy white two finger head sat atop this clear copper colour leaving some very nice side lacing and a fluffy halo and cloud.
S - The smell has started to fade on this one. Everything is very light and subtle. There are tropical notes there, along with bitter aromas but its very faint. If this was fresh, perhaps this would be all the stronger.
T - The same goes for the taste. There is some light citrus and tropical notes along with a good bitter finish. There is maybe a bit of vanilla or earthy oaky flavours as well but its all very light. Again, probably due to age...
M - Only thing I didnt exactly dig was this mouthfeel. Its good, slightly creamy. That being said, it feels a bit too thin. Qutie unfortunate.
D - Man, I wonder what this would be like fresh. That tropical notes would really make this killer. This is a good DIPA, just dont let it get a few months on it.

A: not much head, nice lacing though. Dark amber in color
S: maybe I'm a bit congested or something but I don't get much on the aroma.
T: very good. This is an interesting beer because the initial taste is boozy with raisin flavored like a Belgian double or something but then you get that hit of citrusy hops which finish with an intense and excellent bitterness. Good.
M: nice. Light and then bitter finish is very pleasant
O: this is a solid beer...interesting because of the booziness while still maintains hoppy character

The pour was a nice typical high IBU orange hue. The head lasted but only a few seconds.
But there was no question about hops here. Lots of different hops all coming out at once.
Once I got past the aroma, my first sip verified what my nose was saying. It was a nice dry bitterness, grapefruit, pine tar and citrus spices. But then, what else? that was it, there wasnt anything else. I wanted some malt to balance the bitterness, but with this beer, I just got bitterness without any roundness .
Even though this was a mid range IBU (70), the taste presented itself as being higher, but without a lot of the typical high IBU styles.
So, I walked away from this one with mixed emotions.
