Nose: Citrus and resinous pine; lots of lemon and grapefruit. Fresh grass notes. Crisp, sugary malts.

Appearance: Slightly hazy orange-gold. Frothy white head with perfect retention and decent lacing.

Taste: SO much citrusy bitterness. Lots of grapefruit and green grass. Malts are good and chewy. The hop oils are slick and earthy. A hint of alcohol and strawberry yeast esters. The oiliness is lasting and somewhat strange.

Overall: Delicious beer. The balance is nearly perfect, but the slick feel is usual.

Alrighty, split a few with a buddy the other night, and here is the first review. bottle #11, poured into tulip glass. Blind BIF.

A- Copper colored pour with a nice 3 finger foamy white head. Excellent lacing. 4.

S-Floral hops, lots of citrus as well. Some orange peel and a bit of malt towards the back end. We have a very nice smelling IPA here. 4

T-This must be pretty darn fresh. As with the smell, lots of citrus hops and orange peel jump right out at you. The malt backing is very smooth and compliments the citrus hops very well. Very well done. 4.5

M-Smooth, nice medium bodied carbonation. Very smooth, easy drinking IPA. 4

O- This beer was very well done, one of the better IPA's I have had recently. Would absolutely drink this again.

And for the reveal...Breckenridge 471 IPA. I haven't had too much from Breckenridge but they have never impressed me before. I was a big fan of this however, and at 9.2% ABV this is one hell of an IPA. Thanks Kevin! (shrek806)

Wow! I remember being at a beer festival in September of 2011, and seeing they had this being served. Of course by the time I got to the station, they had run out of it. I was saddened. It wasn't for another 3 months would it be that I finally let this beer flow over my lips. I loved it.

I enjoy this beer cold, in a frosty glass. It has a smooth feel in the mouth, easy to drink and at the end, it reminds you that it is still a kicking IPA. I like IPA's that punch you in the face with hops, and this one does this in a way that I say BRAVO! Very tasty beer.

I tried this beer while visiting my favorite watering hole. The beer is redish in appearance forming a half inch head when poured in a pint glass; the nose is complex, traces of hops, cinnanmon and caramel hits your nose; the taste is also multifaceted, leading is the taste of hops followed by notes of caramel and a bitter aftertaste which does not offend the palate. I will pair this beer with a sharp cheese or Italian Capicolla...and remember to support your local brewery. Drink Beer!

My pour into a pint glass yielded about a half finger of fine, white head. Very little retention, leaving just a dusting on the surface, and not terribly much lacing. The body is a nice copper color.

The smell is very sweet, sappy pine, malt backbone. Very enticing, but not terribly unique. Nice balance.

The taste is what really wows me about this beer. It's nice and complex. Pleasingly sweet and piney/resiny on the front, while the finish is slowly drying, with an ever evolving hop character. The beer has a nice foundation of bready malts. The mouthfeel matches the taste perfectly too. Seriously. It's just thick enough, and with an awesome balance of carbonation frothing up onto your taste buds. A real treat.

I will have to get ahold of some more of this one. And soon.

12 oz bottle poured into pint glass
A - clear, deep amber colour, with a one finger white head that dissipates quickly
S - intense citrusy hoppiness, especially grapefruit
T - very fruity and sweet at first, solid maltiness, with a nice bitter grapefruity finish
M - creamy and smooth
O - a solid double ipa, but nothing i would buy again

Dark amber body with a frothy white head. I do like a malty DIPA, and I hope this one has a rich body to match.

There are light resiny hops... and a little citrus, more pine sap with equally strong sugar.

Sweet, malty IPA with saturating pine bitterness. This really isn't my favorite DIPA, but it's bold and lives up to my expectations for the class as least. I would have liked more citrus and fruitiness, also a little more body would be ideal

This beer has a relatively "MEH" mouthfeel, with a medium body and gushing carbonation. The hops are piney with a touch of citrus and the beer conceals its alcohol content rather well. However, the aftertaste lingers longer than desired :(

The beer is pretty tasty, but I have high DIPA expectations. The alcohol content, malt base and hops are fairly balanced, but it's just not my favorite type of DIPA without a strong citrusy aroma!
The bomber was reasonably priced and easy to get, but I'd probably seek out other DIPAs instead.
