I poured this from a 12oz bottle into a clean pint glass.
Appearance: Pours nice and thick. Small head with tiny bubbles, less than one finger width. Very dark in appearance. The head dissipated quickly.
Smell: Sweet dark roasted caramel smell. Slight hint of floral hops.
Taste: Nutty coffee taste, deep roasted flavor however a slight herbal hop coupled with moderate carbonation gives it a good bite.
Mouth feel: clear coffee taste with a good balance of hop bitterness.
Overall: I think this beer is a good representation of what a stout should taste like. A nice nutty deep roast coffee and slight caramel are balanced nicely with a slight spicy hop characteristic. I am not sure what the oatmeal brings to this. Perhaps a more mealy type of malt taste? I am not sure. However I will definitely buy this again.
