It's a bold, smooth-bodied concoction that oozes dark-roasted coffee aromas and flavors of espresso and semi-sweet chocolate. We round out these heady pleasures with a dose of flaked oatmeal for a creamy body and a semi-dry finish. Unforgettable.

Appearance: Looks like a porter, which is what I thought this was at first for some reason. Perfectly clear ruby black appearance, with a ring of brown head and a little bit of lacing from the initial three finger or so head that was floating on top. Looks very good.

Smell: The beer's low point. It just smells pretty average for the style. Chocolate malt sort of aromas in there with a bit of the usual roasted coffee. There's also a trace of dark fruits and something I can't quite pinpoint. It's almost a phenol quality, I think? It's very mild regardless, and none of it is off-putting -- just a pretty standard smelling oatmeal stout. Nothing to be blown away by.

Taste/feel: Yeah, the feel is definitely oatmeal stout-esque rather than like a porter... no doubt. It has that "light but creamy" thing going on, like a Guinness or the like. I feel like it could use a tick more creaminess, but it's still pretty damn good where it's at. The taste is also quite good as well. Coffee and chocolate on the start, with dark fruits then coming in, with a bit of oatmeal and quite a lot of nuttiness on the finish... maybe a slight char sort of thing as well.

This is a very good oatmeal stout. I'm liking it. At just under 5%, it'd be an excellent stout to session on a cool fall evening or in the winter while shoveling or blowing the snow. Well worth trying.

Single 12oz bottle picked up at Growlers on Main in Polson, MT
Poured into a Delirium Noel tulip

P black with a small tan head; quick recession
N soft-med; sweet oats balanced out by roast
T more of the same in the profile; balanced sweet and roasted malts, dashed with coffee notes and maybe a touch of dried dark fruit; finishes with some roasty bitterness
Mf med-full bodied with a fairly high carb level
O a decent oatmeal stout; not super memorable, but not bad either

L: Pours vantablack in color with a bitchintwo finger espresso head that lingers.
S: Smells rich of roasted malts upfront. some dark chocolate & coffee notes as well.
T: Taste pretty much follows the nose, as expected. This stout has a perfect ratio of roasted malt sweetness to bitterness. But, it is lacking a depth in flavor structure: nothing stands out.
F: Medium-bodied with a thin feel to it.

Looks good. Low, tan head that persists reluctantly.
Smells okay - roasty and a little sweet. Stout-like but underachieves.
Flavor is barely stoutish - more on the dry stout side than sweet, light body and just a touch of oat creaminess.
Most of the bittering seems to come from boil hops. No real meshing of dark malts and hops in the middle.
But the finish is long, mild roasted and black malt flavors with a warm hop smolder.
Not a bad session Oat Stout, just a but thin and timid.

Not a bad oatmeal stout, lots of burnt roasted malts some sweet chocolate malts and a bitter dry finish. Very straight forward low abv stout. It’s a fairly enjoyable beer, but the finish is a bit off. It’s kind metallic or charcoally.

Pours deep brown with a 1/2 inch tan head. Minimal lacing.

Aroma of coffee, roast malts.

Taste is robust. Roasted malts, chocolate, strong burnt coffee. A bit astringent.

Medium bodied, light carbonation. Creamy but, not the usual oiliness of an oatmeal stout. Semi-dry finish.

Not the best of the oatmeal stouts I've had but, it's ok.

12oz bottle. Label is stamped with best by date of '041320'. Label is marked 5% ABV.
Deep brown colored body, with ruby red highlights. One fat finger of beige colored head. Leaves behind a webbing of lacing.
Aroma of roasted malts, which express coffee and dark chocolate. Has a little char, and some evidence of oats.
Taste is espresso coffee and dark chocolate from the roasted malts. The oats influence the flavor to be a little sweet, and keep the bitterness to a minor level. The espresso coffee appears to be the main flavor in the after taste.
Medium plus mouth feel, with a creamy, smooth texture. Good carbonation.
One must like dark roasted coffee to be a fan, but the beer is not overly bitter. Admirable balance with the malts and the oats.

Appearance: Pours a dark, black color with a light tan head. SRM of 23-24. (3.75)

Aroma: Strong aromas of rich chocolate. Some chocolate mocha and cream. Hints of coffee. The chocolate is rich. Not bitter, nor milky. (3.75)

Flavor: More coffee on the tongue. Expanding on the roasty chocolate, there is more of a coffee and roasty bitterness. Leans more mocha and espresso. A smokiness I'm detecting. Finishes sort of ?sour/flat with a coffee/milk astringency. (3.50)

Feel: Medium body. Poor carbonation. Finishes with a slight sour coffee astringency on the palate. (3.25)

Overall: This one was not quite up my alley. Didn't strike me as milky enough. Has a sort of bitter coffee sourness on the back-end and drank flat. Not a bad beer though, but not what I would reach at for an oatmeal stout. (Final Rating: 3.50)

Unknown vintage; drank 10/16/15 @ the Yarchives.

Opaque brown appearance.

A rough pour yielded a nice tan head; strong lace.

Creamed coffee, raspberry & fresh earth notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Fresh earth, raw oats & creamed coffee flavors up front; mild chalk & faint raspberry notes on the finish.

Substantial flavor but not too bold; I guess that is what the style calls for. Above average.
