On tap poured into an 8oz glass.

Pours a very dark ruby brown with a one finger dark brown head that is very fine and creamy. Nose is dry and roasty not a whole lot.

Taste is bitter and dry with a sharp and coffee like finish that lingers for a while. Mouthfeel is a bit light and overly carbonated for me. Overall its decent but not special.

A: Dark brown to black. Pours with a large foamy head. The bubbles are initially all different sizes - which I am not a fan of. It settles to a 1 finger cap of light tan foamy head. There is lots of lacing left on the glass.

S: Slight chocolate and burnt wood smells come through.

T: Burn wood up front. Slightly bitter profile. After taste is similar but slightly off and metallic.

M: Very thin. No chewiness that I like in a stout. Just thin like water - no bite or creaminess at all.

O: This seems like a miss. The flavor is off and the mouthfeel is not what I'd expect on an Oatmeal Stout.

Very dark in color and with a creamy head of tan colored foam, Breckenridge Oatmeal Stout has a fragrant nose that is roasty with notes of chocolate, earthy scents, and a touch of alcohol. The beer holds its foam very well and generous lacing coats your glass as you drink.

Moving to the taste, this oatmeal stout offers flavors of chocolate/cocoa, roasted malt, caramel, toffee, and a touch of molasses. There is some coffee character too, although not as much as I expected, and the beer has a creamy texture common to the style.

I love a good oatmeal stout, but this offering from Breckenridge doesn’t quite measure up to some of the finest in its class. It isn’t a bad beer by any means, but the body is a little thinner than I prefer and it doesn’t have quite the sweet, dessert- like quality I have grown to love and expect in my oatmeal stout.

Still, all things considered, this is still a good enough beer to recommend a try. Keep your expectations at a moderate level and you should like it just fine.

12 oz. bottle poured into pint glass

A-one finger of fine, tab bubbles when poured hard. Deep black in color.

S-Lots of chocolate, coffee.

T-Coffee, metallic, with a drier, more earthy/herbal finish.

M-A little light for the style, lingers nicely but not as full as I'd like. Low carbonation.

O-Nothing offensive about this one. Easy drinker, but missing some of the body and bigger, roasty flavors I might expect.

A - pours completely black looks extremely thick. Thin head that is light brown in color and leaves mediocre lacing around the pint glass.

S - . A hint of coffee and cocoa and oats. Nice complex odor.

T - really not appealing to me. I thought it would be better after smelling the complexity but all I taste is bitterness from beginning to end just bad bitterness.

M - nice and smooth full bodied beer. The bitterness lingers though.

O - not horrible but I would not buy another one. Disappointing on the flavor.

Poured from a single bottle into a pint glass.

Pours pitch black with a little ring of white foam. Roasted, espresso oatmeal nose. Hints of vanilla. Taste is rich and creamy, light chocolate, smooth finish. Some coffee grittiness. Oaty. Easy finish. Solid stout. Very nice.
