Opaque with a large, thick head. Exceptionally creamy with great retention. A beautiful looking stout.
Some weird aromas initially - olives and rust. As warmed caught a big of a coffee aroma, but subdued. No hop.
Dark malt flavors lost behind off flavors (oxidation problem or just an overly strong roasted barley character?) Å sharp, papery flavor late. A slight lingering bitter flavor in the finish.
Medium body and carbonation. A bit astringent - lacks the creamy smoothness of the style.
Not the most drinkable of beers - some flaws could be characteristic of an aged sample, so could be better brewery fresh.
