Single bottle from Premier Gourmet in Buffalo - never had anything from Breckenridge before, so I thought I'd give them a try.

Poured into a small nonic. Chestnut-black in colour, pours somewhat thin. I have to say the head on this was quite impressive - thick and bubbly, lots of sticky lace. Survives as a thick ring.

Nose is coffee, cola, nuts, sweet malt and maybe a bit of roasted character.

Tastes fine. Incredibly easy to drink, very smooth. Initially quite sweet and malty, before the smokey, bitter finish takes over. Not what I expected - tastes a great deal like a porter.

The feel is what really sets this brew back - it doesn't feel like an oatmeal stout, or any kind of stout. It is quite thin and watery, giving it a feel much more akin to a porter.

A decent tasting oatmeal stout, something I certainly can see myself drinking again, and several at a time at that. However, it just doesn't taste or feel like an oatmeal stout, and so the scores reflect that.

A: Pours midnight black with a thin, tan, creme cap. The head quickly collapses, and there's no lacing. Maybe I served it too cold, as it might have been better at 50 than low-mid 40's. It's not the most visually interesting beer, but it's still a favorite.

S: DMS. Disappointing. Deep roasted caramel, but everything hides behind the cabbage smell. As it warms, though, notes of cocoa, licorice, and bourbon come through.

T: Roasty, smooth, and dark, but thin enough to be easy with just a slightly spicy, dry-hopped finish. It's a perfect balance of spice, carbonation, lightly bitter black malts, and cream. The oatmeal adds a full, smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Some sweet, juicy flavors linger into the finish.

I wasn't too impressed at first, and wondered why I remembered liking this so much in years past, but the flavor came through as a tasty reminder. It's a perfect oatmeal stout, straddling the thin line between an easy session beer and a more flavorful sipper.

At under 5% alcohol, it wouldn't make much of a winter warmer, but it's a perfect apres-ski beer in Breck, and a nice roasty stout for any other occasion.

A-pours black with a tan head that quickly disipates and leaves a very thin lace
S-coffee, caramel, coca cola
T-coca cola and caramel flavors up front met with some hop bitterness leaving a roasted coffee and unsweetened chocolate flavor on the palate
M-Medium bodied
O-Could have used a bit more creaminess but still had great flavor and is very drinkable stout. Solid example of the style

12 oz pour into tulip. Bottle dated 7/22/12.

Very black pour with a very short brown foamy head that dissipated quickly leaving a tiny ring that held and laced well.

Aroma was a slightly roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. No hoppy notes.

Taste was chocolate forward which was somewhat surprising, a bit of coffee and caramel underneath that, some mild sweetness, and a very slight acidity to finish.

Mouthfeel was pretty light, well carbonated, and smooth. A little drying on the finish, no particular aftertaste.

Overall, while not a big flavor it was pleasant to drink and strangely refreshing. Halfway decent chocolate/coffee flavor with some mild malt roastiness, liked the sweetness. Good beer, very drinkable, but nothing exceptional.

Pours black as night. Drippy lacing occurs as it drinks down. The head is not much. A patch of tan foam that reduces to almost nothing, and quickly.

Dark chocolate malts, some coffee, rolled oat bitterness, dustiness, major roast, a whiff of char, and some licorice in the nose.

Rich and burly with bitter oats and dusty black chocolate. Bites of char and lightly pine hop bitterness. Not entirely dry, but most definitely not too sweet for an oatmeal stout. Exquisite backdrop of thin coffee. Quite tasty, really.

A little thin. The carbonation isn't over-the-top, so it balances just fine. A very light spicy alcohol finishes down the esophagus.

A very impressive oatmeal stout; one that I'd buy six at a time in the future.

Pours a pitch black, with a creamy tan head. aromas of fresh cocoa powder. Taste begins with some coffee, then a bit of dark caramel, then some molasses, then some earthy, citrusy hops. Mouthfeel is rich and smooth. Overall a nice oatmeal stout that I would get again.

12oz bottle poured into a standard pint glass. The brew appears black in color with a tan head that fades leaving patchy lace sticking to the glass. Some brown clarity is noted when held to the light.

It has an overall muted aroma despite being allowed to warm up in my glass. What is noted is a bit of roast and something almost along the lines of being like cola. Not bad but also not the most enjoyable or expected aromatics.

The taste isbroasty and mildly bitter sonewhat like day old coffee. There is a bit of bakers chocolate coupled eith earth and some minerals fill out the void across the backend. Not terrible but also not the most enjoyable either.

This is a medium bodied brew with a modest level of prickly carbonation. This was an ok offering that sort of missed the mark. The cola aspect was weird and it missed on the expected oatmeal inclusion in both flavor and feel. Its not a beer I would purchase again.
