A: Very very deep brown, with red hues appearing near the edges when held up to the light. Near-white head that recedes to moderate lacing. Many streams of bubbles are apparent near the surface, where the light hasn't been sucked up yet.
S: Big rich vanilla notes, with.... malt in the background? Truthfully, just about all I smell is vanilla, but it is so deep that there must be something other contributing to it.
T: Just like the nose, vanilla is in the limelight. A bit of sweet caramel is present as well, not much malt, wheat, yeast or hops to speak of. I let out an involuntary 'mmmm' on the first sip, but after the 10th and 11th it becomes a bit cloying. Definitely provides the vanilla as advertised, but I prefer it to be accompanied by something else, more balanced.
M: Easy drinking with little carbonation.
O: Lives up to the front-and-center VANILLA on the label, and exactly what I was expecting. Just turns out that it wasn't what I prefer. Vanilla can steal the show, but it shouldn't be a monologue.

Nov 2014 - Rattle n Hum, on tap. Seems vanilla is farther back but still a worthy brew.
2013 At Rattle N Hum Caught this on the cusp of the season. Glad to see it. This is a fine brew. Balanced & polite. Not much is given away under the nose but the coffee, chocolate & of course the vanilla, jump out on the tongue. Subterfuge at it's most hospitable. 74F outside & it still has relevance. Go you Breckenridge.
2013 Rattle n Hum, NYC. On tap. Second try reveals serious vanilla followed by a nicely balanced taste & mouth feel. Well crafted. Demands a second helping & at a friendly 4.7 ABV, let's do it.
01/10/12 At Rattle N Hum, NYC. Nice. Not too sweet. Medium body. Not the winter warmer I expect from a porter, but worth a try.
