Pours a deep deep garnet, so dark that it is almost black. Thin head fades into a few fish-eye bubbles. Aromas of black malt and espresso, slight raisin overlaid with a distinct vanilla smell. Tangy, tart aroma in there as well.

Taste: Um...wow. This is one sweet beer. Intense vanilla character all the way through, but underneath it there is a sweet stout on a sugar high. Very little roasted character or hop bitterness, letting this beer fall firmly on the "cloying" side of the fence. I think they went a bit heavy on the lactose (milk sugar) in this beer. The finish is slightly tart leaving a molasses-like sweetness on the tongue. Not many porter-like qualities here.

Mouthfeel: Full body, medium-low carbonation.

Drinkability: Yeesh...if you like your beers sugary (not malty), this is a good one for you. As for me, I would prefer something with a little balance.

It lives up to the "vanilla" descriptor, so I can't say I wasn't warned. There is something to be said for subtlety and harmony in beer. This beer does not say it.

Served chilled poured from a bottle to glass. Correct amount of carbonation. Very dark in color typical of porters.
Very smooth taste. Not overpowering in the flavor department so it goes down easy. Semi-sweet with the vanilla flavor apparant (says it is brewed with real vanilla bean). Pleasantly surprised with the taste of this beer. Moderate alcohol content.

A: Deep dark ebony brown. Just barely able to see thru. Less then a fingers worth of head dissipates down to a very very thin layer of lacey head.

S: Very mild aromas here. Hint of coffee, vanilla and maybe some toasted malt.

T: Vanilla taste is noticeable, actually smooths out the normal Porter flavor that usually bites. Bit of caramel and chocolate; almost tastes like a 3 Musketeers bar. Alcohol is noticeable at the end but it goes well with the flavors.

M: Light carbonation, smooth creamyness on the palette with a nice after taste linger.

O: Very nice Porter, everything balances well and it lacks that sharp bite that most porters have with their burnt and bold flavors.

Pours a dark walnut brown, reddish around the edges when held against light. Thick light tan head that remains throughout. Good lacing.
Scent- very light. A little earthy, sweet, but too light.
Taste- this is like a light, milk chocolate flavored beer. Light vanilla but it's the chocolate that stands out.
M - light, carbonated, not creamy. Lighter than expected for a porter. A little bit of a funny, dry aftertaste. A bit metallic?
O - decent, tasty. But I don't think it is what it could be, nor what I expected.
