eh, not a fan of this beer, probably cause i really don't like porters!

the appearance is nice, black but not midnight black, good on that...little head with splotchy lacing

the smell is a little eh! a weak vanilla comes to the nose....with a sweet sugary smell as well

the taste was a lot more defined than the smell....it has a medium vanilla flavor, with decent chocolate notes as well

the feel is thin like a porter should be

overall this is an ok take on a porter, but really not my style and the vanilla was overboard

This offering poured a deep molasses brown with ruby highlights at the edges of the glass. Less than half an inch of slightly off white head that instantly faded to almost nothing. Nice color, but no lacing or head retention to speak of.

The aroma of this beverage is easily the best part of the experience. Roasted chestnuts and heavy malt character lead the way into a light vanilla subtext. Brown sugar and sweetness abound.

The taste lets me down a little after such an awesome scent. Fake vanilla and mild malts lead me astray to a surprisingly good aftertaste of sweet roast flavor. Molasses and brown sugar are there as well like the nose led me to believe. Kind of confusing.

Mouthfeel is solid and medium bodied as a porter should be. Flavor lingers nicely and the carbonation is light, but pleasant at the same time.

Overall this was a ok beverage that I could see some people really going for. Not really my cup of tea as I prefer my porters to be less sweet and more robust. Seek this out only if you like the sweeter side of darkness!
