A: Clear. very dark amber-brown. Small thin head.

S: Wood. Vanilla. Alcohol. Meh...

T: Thee most vanilla I've ever had. Vanilla syrup used for icee's. Pretty yummy. A little malt too, which balances the sweetness out.

M: Way too thin. If this beer was thick and chewy, it could become an instant whale; but it's not.

O: Great taste, but everything else was a huge let down.

Thanks redliner8!

A: Dark brown in color, but a good amount of light passes through as poured. The head is off-white and fades rather quickly. Good lacing.

S: I barely get any scent at all from this. It has a very very very faint roasted barley scent, and what smells like spoiled milk...but very faint.

T: Huh...it has an interesting flavor. Well it really does taste a whole lot better than it smells. I get this cream-vanilla flavor, but not a whole lot in the porter department. The beer has a lot of graininess (flavor, not texture) which is good.

M: The mouthfeel is medium-light. It has a lot of backbone for a sweet, light beer. Carbonation is pretty good. The beer is a bit sticky.

O: Overall I wouldn't really recommend the beer. It's not bad, but it's just not really good. It's not much of a porter, but it has some nice vanilla flavors. I guess you could just call it a vanilla beer and be done with it. I would rate it below average if it weren't for the vanilla.

Poured 48 degrees Fahrenheit into a DFH bulb pint. No born date.

Pours a dark copper, cola color with a solid opacity. 1 finger light tan head settles into a ring with little lacing.

Smell is there, decently projected, but a somewhat one-dimensional coffee bean with a hint of oak. No improvement with warming.

Flavors move in and out across the palate, varying in strength and appeal. There is a touch of vanilla, but it struggles to stand out through strains of coffee bean. Finishes dry, and relatively unstructured.

The mouthfeel starts out okay, with some relative plushness, but thins out substantially into the drydown. Some lightly supportive carbonation

Overall, it's tasty, good, but not great and just north of forgettable.

It pours almost exactly like a coke, but with a nice head, with brilliant ruby outlines when shone to the light.

The smell is really subdued, but I get a tiny bit of hops and malt, but nothing too great can really shine through.

The taste is great! It is not over the top, but I'm getting a.... cookie flavor? It is really different and cool, I like it.

Oh I know what it is! It tastes like Freihofer's Chocolate Chip Cookies! Wow, what an amazing memory pairing.

Mouthfeel is a medium sting, and low bodied. Nice and drinkable.

Overall the I like it a lot, the smell really drags it down, but the taste is awesome!

Drank this on a snow day with a neighbor. Pours a medium brown, mocha, head was minimal and not last. Scent was vaguely of vanilla. But as with anything else with this beer, nothing offends. Taste was had some notes of charred caramel and vanilla was slightly present. Mouthfeel was a bit dry, and did not offend. Overall, not bad but nothing sensational.

A: dark brown color with a hint of amber. Not much head but the little on it had nice vanilla flavors. Minimal lacing but probably due to tap.

S: smells like vanilla. Duh. Also smells a bit like baked bread. Welcoming and inviting aroma.

T: vanilla and oat flavor. Not overwhelming but full flavor. Tasty and pleasant

M: smooth first taste, crisp after taste. First time I had it one week ago tap was in better shape and it was thicker and delicious

O: quite enjoyable. Low ABV so can enjoy a few, price decent. Would recommend as good way to start the night.

Poured into a pint glass. Reviewed alongside Southern Tier Porter.

A: Clear dark brown with a one-finger, off-white, fizzy head that lasted a minute or two. Okay lacing.

S: Vanilla, dark fruit, and bready malt.

T: Moderate sweetness and light bitterness. Strong vanilla flavor at first, then more vanilla in the finish. Some fruit and bready malt in the finish too, but mostly vanilla. This is a good thing, since I like vanilla.

M: Medium bodied with fizzy carbonation. Really smooth and creamy.

O: This is a solid American porter if you like vanilla. I preferred this over the Southern Tier.

Poured into a Breckenridge balloon glass. The beer is a coffee black, with a cola cream colored head that dissipates to a thin film with chunky bubbles around the edges. Foamy lacing randomly shows up on the glass. The beer smells of burnt malts, rich chocolate, and finally a good vanilla bean presence. The beer starts with a good vanilla note, but not overly so, then leads to burnt malts and some bitter chocolate. The mouthfeel is just a bit watery, but I still like it as it is smooth.

Overall, there are better pure porters on the market, but I give this one high marks because of their excellent use of Vanilla. It's a great dessert beer and I like to revisit this one from time to time.
