A shallow, creamy-beige head lasted a minute, leaving rings of lacing over a dark brown ale that passes no light.

Yes, Virginia, there is vanilla in this porter, almost too much. There is malt in the background with some sweet coffee, though no chocolate or roasted malt can be found.

Flavor is a sweet one-note with breadiness, and uninspired. The finish is long and disappointing.

A medium body with modest carbonation.

Another everyday beer that is enjoyable as a backdrop to a social occasion. Sessionable for sure, but only as something to fill one’s hand during a long afternoon.

Poured into a pint glass. Brown to copper in color, thin head.

Strong roasted malt smell... that's all though.

Roasted malt taste, quick bitterness in the middle, vanilla at the end. Just like that 1, 2, 3.

Smoother body, but not smooooth. Moderate carbonation.

Easy drinking.

Poured from a bottle into a standard pint glass...

Appearance - almost like a cherry coke/molasses combination. Minimal lacing and a modest sized head with a vigorous pour.

Smell - detect slight aroma of vanilla and oak with some sweet candied aroma... not too much else on the nose. Sort of has an artificial odour.

Taste - a good flavour of vanilla and some oak. A good adaptation of a vanilla porter. The vanilla is the strong point. I'm used to porters having predominately coffee flavour.

Mouthfeel - feels somewhat thin on the palate but manages to coat the mouth with vanilla and the flavour lingers for a good amount of time. This beer tastes quite carbonated.

Overall - I'm glad I tried this beer. I haven't had too many vanilla porters yet but I think they are worthy once in a while when I feel like a change from regular porters.
