Nice malt mixed with faint vanilla bean. It is an easy mix with malt, some roast but none of the acidity.

The aroma is the first thing you notice as the malt and vanilla pop out of the bottle. The pours is a maple syrup color that is an opaque mahogany in the glass.

Taste is dominated by the vanilla intially but as it warms the vanilla actually moves into the background. The color also does not hold as this thins, ending a light amber, though the lacing has remained until the end.

Good mouthfeel, very good carbonation. Crisp at the end despite the vanilla there is no cloying or lingering sugar.

Really enjoyed this.

A -Medium brown (like a Porter!) with a minimal tan head

S - Nice vanilla scent with a bit of malt and maybe a bit of breadiness.

T- The vanilla disappoints a bit, though it is present, I expected more with the big VANILLA letters on the label. There is a bit of brown sugar, malt and bread too.

M - Like many Porters its medium bodied, moderately carbonated and, though tasty, I like a little more from a Porter.

O - Not a bad brew, but not all together special either. I'd try it again, but wouldn't go out of my way.

Pours very dark brown almost black with a red hue. It had very little head with some white lacing.

Very little smell, some malts and some sweet vanilla.

There was some vanilla to the taste but not as flavoursome as I'd hoped.

The mouthfeel was fairly carbonated and thick.

This isn't the worst beer ever but I was disappointed by it and don't feel the need to give it another chance.

A rather gentle pour gave about one finger of bone white head. Dissipated to about 1/8” for a few sips and then almost nothing for the rest of consumption. The beer is a very dark brown color.

Vanilla comes across foremost in the aroma. Not too sweet though. Also some malt in the background. Definitely smells like a member of the porter family.

Taste has more depth than the smell but pretty much the same components and layering. Last few sips saw the maltiness come out some more. The aftertaste seemed to have a little more grain/biscuit at this point as well. Mouthfeel is quite thin. For a porter I would expect more in this regard. If it was thicker, richer, more velvety I think it would make this beer a pretty nice after dinner/dessert option. The lack of a thicker feel doesn’t make it a bad beer in my mind but highlights an area where there could be an improvement made.

Overall I liked this one. The flavor was nice. I don’t think I’d seek out six pack but as a single or on draft I could go for it if in the mood.
