Appearance: Pours a fairly clean brown with a slightly amber hint. Almost no lacing remains after a minute or so.
Smell: A hint of caramel and vanilla with a slight chocolate overtone. A small amount of licorice is apparent in the finish.
Taste: Not exactly what I expect from the smell... vanilla hits the tongue immediately, but barley and caramel follow on the finish. A very pleasant, easy drink. Vanilla stays on the tongue long after a sip.
Mouthfeel: Not very dense at all. A very light porter; easy to drink.
Overall: One of my favorite beers when I crave something lighter. Pleasant to drink without being overly heavy.

Live review, bought a mix a six earlier today. This is the first one out of the sixer.

Appearance- darker, coppery amber hue. looks almost a reddish quality

Smell- some vanilla bean, caramel and a hint of coffee bean

Taste- smooth and crisp. the vanilla bean and slight coffee bean flavor takes over. Hits the palate and then disappears as it goes down. Little to no after taste lingers.

mouthfeel- feels very thin and light.

Overall- Not a bad brew. A little on the light side for me, but overall pretty good. I was kind of expecting big robust flavors, but I didnt get that.

Served on-tap into a pint glass.

Very dark brown body with a slight red tint. A small head, about one finger thick to be precise, formed and dissolved into very thin lacing.

The smell and taste were nearly identical. Rich and creamy notes of vanilla seemed to dominate the taste. It was not overbearing but it should definitely be noted by drinkers who do not care for vanilla. A small amount of bitterness comes from the hops. I prefer Porters a tad on the bitter side so they lost a few points in this department but this beer was well-balanced considering it was flavored.

Overall: This was a special at my favorite local bar. I had a few of these on-tap. As long as this is on special then I will definitely take advantage of it. Full flavor, yet light enough to throw a few back without feeling sledged out.

Bottom Line: Not the best Porter I've had but worth checking out, especially if you are a vanilla fan.

Bottle purchased at Top Hops Beer Shop in NYC, drunk in a hotel room in Ottawa to try and lighten my luggage load before the flight home.

Pours a red-tinged dark brown, some fizz around the glass. Head is beige, OK but a bit thin. Bit soft-drink-looking, really. Darker would be nice.

Smells sweet. Big vanilla hint with milk chocolate, touch of nutmeg. Richness, but more of a molasses than a roasty kind. Not bad, but very sweet.

Taste is fairly sweet as well. Vanilla permeates throughout, with a touch of cherry cola midway, dry-roasted spice late with cinnamon bark and a mild pepper note. Sweet, desserty beer. I need some more grounding. Some roast on the back would really carry this and make it a much more mature drink.

Mouthfeel contributes to its meek spirit, it's quite thin and yet retains a slight syrupy texture.

I'm being harsh with this one as I'm very sensitive to sweetness in beer. There's probably a lot for others to enjoy in this.
