A - This one looks reddish-rhubarb as it pours out of the bottle. In the glass, it's darker and more russet, but still has a dirty red color when held to the light. This one is cloudy and murky, and topped with a two finger head that quickly dissipates.

S - Hearty brown bread, walnuts, pecans, molasses, and brown sugar. This definitely smells "brown."

T - Sweet brown sugar and pecans at first, then moving towards cinnamon and tootsie rolls. There are some almost tropical-fruit notes in the finish that add a nice little flourish at the end.

M - Big dextrin-y body with cavity inducing sugar levels. The alcohol is well hidden though, and the finish dries up considerably from the initial sugar rush.

D - Good stuff. Not really a session brew, but great for desert!

341ml Bottle from the Potsdam NY IGA for $3

Appearance - Slightly hazy brown colour with an average size beige coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation showing and there is some faint lacing. The head lasted for around 2 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Malts, caramel, dark fruits, herbal notes, anise

Taste & Mouth - There is an average amount of carbonation and I can taste malts, caramel, and red grapes. There are also some dates, herbal flavours, and some molasses. It ends with a malty dark fruit aftertaste.

Overall - Mouthfeel and appearance need work, but the taste is pretty solid. Not a world beater by any means, but a decent beer that is worth trying once.

Enjoyed this 12 oz bottle in a large snifter glass

A: Pours a dark brown hue with some ruby highlights and an off-white head that slowly dissipates quickly and solid a wispy lace.

S: Caramel malty aroma with sweet background.

T: Similar to the smell there is a strong caramel bock flavor with a sweet malty backbone.

M: Full body and minimal carbonation.

O: Decent bock – good flavors and aromas.
