A murky rich amber color with a decent grey-white foam on top and solid lacing. The aroma includes a flowery pine-grass hop with bready caramel malt. Pretty decent. The first tastes gives up an earthy-grass hop and a vinegar-lemon tartness over a toffee coffee-esque base. It’s grainy but has a good amount of bite. It’s a medium body brew with a coffee-like feel and lively carbonation that keeps your attention. This is a fine option for a somewhat different kind of an IPA, but ultimately not one I’ll make any effort to revisit.

look: 3.5 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 2.5

Poured into a snifter.

3.5 A: Opaque orange amber color. Less than one finger of frothy beige head that fell quickly, but did leave a short ring of lacing.

3.5 S: Floral and citrusy hops, but no flavors in particular stand out. Caramel malts with a heavy breadiness that is enhanced by the yeast.

3.0 T: Light herbal and citrus hop flavor. A bit soapy. The yeastiness and breadiness are strong and block out most of the other flavors. Moderate bitterness.

3.5 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. A bit chewy.

2.5 D: I'm not a huge fan of bready IPAs and this is full of it. Additionally, the hops don't really do a lot for this. Lucky me? I think not.

Pours pretty but tastes and feels thin. Big fluffy head with lacing for days, with an attractive amber body.
Smells are fresh IPA type scents. Well rounded; not striking but appealing.
Flavors make me think more of a hopped up amber ale, or perhaps an english IPA than an american IPA. Sweetened black tea flavor profile. There's some piney hop stuff going on but coming from Colorado I have higher expectations.
I chose this because I hadn't tried it before. I was either going to choose this or a six pack of Southern Tier IPA. Next time I'm getting the Southern Tier.
