Nitro tap - pours dark brown with creamy Tan head. Smells of coffee and cooked sugar. Initial taste is off-putting a slight sour astringency. This mellows by mid sip and disappears leaving clean dry finish of nothing but roasted malt.

Exceptionally smooth. Very impressed. Tastes very similar to Guinness and Murphy's.

On nitro-tap 9/5/2012 at Doherty’s East Ave Irish Pub in Pawtucket, RI, served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a dark brown color, with a short dense off-white head that fades very slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is faint but contains dark chocolate, roasted malts, coffee and a bit of hops.

T: The taste starts with a mild dark chocolate flavor followed by roasted malts and some creaminess. The hops presence is very mild as you would expect from this type of beer and there’s a decent balance. The after-taste is bitter-sweet.

M: Smooth and a little crisp but a little watery, medium body, light-to-medium carbonation, finish is dry and slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down ok, slightly filling, mild kick, decent representation of style, there are certainly several other beers in the style that I would choose first.

First had: on tap at Breckenridge Brewery, Blake St., Denver, CO

Very nice stout on nitro at the Breckenridge brewpub. Poured jet black with a creamy tan head. Very roasty aroma, with notes of dark malts and coffee, with a touch of semisweet chocolate. Taste of roasty malts, coffee, chocolate (slightly bitter), and touches of figs, smoke and leather. Nice full body, creamy nitro feel, and pleasant drink overall.

On-Tap 12oz. (The Ale House)

Pours a very nice black color, with some nice carbonation. Very nice one-finger plus creamy light tan head. Which leave some very nice thick creamy sticky lacing. The nose is malty with a nice touch of chocolate, toffee, slight coffee. The taste is malty, nice touch of the dark stuff. Medium body, nice dry/bitter finish. Overall a pretty tasty brew. Would buy again.

Had on nitro-tap at Breckenridge Blake St. location.

Poured midnight black with a creamy chocolate brown head. Moderate lacing. Had an aroma of roasty and sweet malts, coffee and dark chocolate. Tasted just like it smelled. Roasty and sweet malts, coffee and dark chocolate...started sweet and finished a tad dry...left a smoky taste in my mouth.

Full-bodied with minor carbonation. Very, very creamy and smooth. A meal in a glass...have one of these at most. I enjoyed it and I would have it again!

this might be the best beer breck makes on a regular basis, its such a true to style nitro dry irish oatmeal stout and its fantastic. muted black in color and luster, and the head is thick and frothy, a little less than in inch, darker than tan but not quite brown. the nose is simple and light, i get a little bittering hops, maybe magnum in there, but its all about the drying yeast and the cocoa and roast notes. the flavor is a lot like the nose, just way more pronounced, with the roast making it a perfect winter beer, and the bitterness staying back enough for this to be freakishly drinkable for me. so smooth on the nitro tap (enjoyed at the ale house), its creamy and full bodied, but it isnt rich, its dry and light. i could drink ten of these and not get bored or full. have not had this in a form other than nitro, but i cant imagine its better than this. a great food dark beer too, everything from greasy food to spicy food to homestyle stuff, its top notch.
