Unknown vintage; drank 7/10/14 on nitro @ Fischman's.
Brown/black hue.
Creamy tan nitro head; tree rung lace.
Creamy grains & milk chocolate nose.
Creamy, smooth medium thick mouthfeel.
Creamed grain & mild mocha flavors; a hint of bakers chocolate on the finish. Hint of smoke emerges as this warms.
A substantial (& yes, very creamy) session stout.

July 2nd, 2015 - If the thunder stout is named after any meteorological phenomenon, it must be the slow, rolling thunder I used to see out on the Front Range, because this is a soft and slowly assertive brew. This review is for the Nitro at the new brewery location off of Santa. My pour came with a solid two inch head which was a bit of a bummer, but I also secretly like to cut through the foam with my mustache and, in this case, the assistance of a spoon. The aroma is lightly malty with a dusting of chocolate shavings, and have a light palate with a thick creaminess. The aftertaste is also mild with more of that slow-rolling oatiness and maltiness, making this supremely sessionable.
