A cornerstone bar for any craft beer lover in DC! What a treat to have this place available to me any day of the week.
First, the atmosphere is very hip- It has the cool urban feel to it, but it's not full of pretentious people with Heinekens. Very long cool bar, some loose tables, booths, and retro looking seating by the windows. Very cool day and night.
The quality of the beer is great- they serve in the correct glassware at the right temperature, which is really awesome. All the hoppy beers taste right and everything is fresh.
Service is good, mostly efficient I'd say. They get lots of people to come here: not just craft beer geeks like me, but lots of younger working DC people and more, so they have lots of people to look after. Also, I'd probably have to go there a lot more than I can afford to right now to be able to be friendly with the bartenders, which is too bad, because there is definitely the potential hook up factor if you were friends with the people working here.
Selection is always great, they hold lots of special events for rare beers like CBS, a recent Stone tap takeover, Sexual Chocolate, etc. and all other times they have a stacked menu for the 55 taps (5 casks) and 500 bottles, even a rare bottle list. Doesn't get a whole lot better.
Food is good, solid barfood and some thats a little more interesting than the regular stuff for sure. The price is what keeps me from rating this higher, as it is very expensive.
Overall a really awesome bar that I will be giving lots of money to for years.

I have no idea how this place is rated a 99. Let me explain why I will never return to this place again and why each category is rated as a one. Visited on Sunday, 22 June, 2014. I wish I could rate it a zero, but one is the lowest. After looking for a parking place for close to a half hour--- seriously, there is no place to park around this area and the restaurant has no parking--we paid $17 to park in the Washington Plaza Hotel. All parking garages close to the restaurant were closed or full. So, after you screw around looking for parking, get ready for the most expensive, overpriced beer menu on the planet! What a rip off! Prices are DC and then some...just plain price gouging going on here! The food menu is really mediocre...and calling it mediocre is a gift to this place....better said, the menu is shit. Massively overpriced small portions. Crappy choice of appetizers, lame entrees and a joke of a flatbread layout for a place that supposedly prides itself on its beer list. Nothing good at all to complement your overpriced beers. Service is inattentive. You would think our server had a dozen tables of her own, when there was only us in her section and she was nowhere to be seen when we needed something. Glasses sat empty and we had to flag her down for overpriced refills. Our entree plates sat, empty, on the table for 15 minutes before we asked a busboy to remove them. Overall terrible experience and will never be going back. Waste of time and money....zero.
