A little pub with a sports memorabilia theme in Anacortes, it has a nice atmosphere to hang out in with shuffleboard, darts, and a foosball table. There are 15 taps here with 12 of them standard and 3 rotating. They really don't offer anything beyond your standard craft beer in the region such as Georgetown, Mac and Jack's, SN, and Boundary Bay along with PBR and some "imports". They have a good happy hour price at $3.50 a pint so it's definitely a good place to drop in for a glass and a game. My biggest beef (forgive the pun) was with their claim "voted best burger" which was little more than a strip of ground chuck on a cheap bun with some different toppings for $11. The fries are good though...

This is my favorite bar to go to. I love the Irish setting they have in there because I'm Irish myself. It's good to get away from the garbage bars on the island that are filled with military. I'll make the drive from oak harbor for this bar any given weekend. Great bartenders, great live music. I had a guy spill a drink on me one time there and I didn't even get mad about it and he bought me another beer. Not that expensive either, which was a surprise to me the first time I was there. Never tried the food so I don't know what really to say about that. I love the multiple settings they have in the bar. It looks small on the outside, but you walk in and have the band area, the bar and kind of laid back setting and then they have the patio on the back which is where I mostly go. Great place to go. Highly recommended.

A recent visit to Anacortes reminded me how much I like the Brown Lantern. The BL has been in business since the 1930s and has that comfortable, worn-in bar feel. A long, narrow room, with the bar ahead and to the right as you enter, the walls and ceiling are covered with old sports photos and souvenirs.
About 15 taps of mostly NW brews are available at any time, with the selections rotating. A nice selection of spirits is also available. The food at the BL is standard bar food, done really well. They really can put together a nice sandwich.
A big change since my last visit is an expansion into the space next door, just about doubling the size of the BL. Various games are available and there are TVs for watching the game if you are so inclined.
If you're catching the ferry out to the islands, or on the way back in, this great little bar is certainly worth a visit.
