A- Cloudy Straw in colour with a soft white head and medium carbonation.

S- Melon, spicy and fruity aroma with some subtle malt sweetness.

T- As above some spicy hop flavours and subtle tropical fruits. mild bitterness and a pretty standard malt profile.

M- Sharp and light.

D- A good beer for a non craft aficionado. This would make a very good conversion beer. Not pushing what is possible but it isnt succumbing to the macro push either. All in all I wouldn't complain if someone put one of these in front of me.

On tap, the beer arrived pleasing yellow color with orange hues and white foam. The pleasant aroma has orange citrus along with biscuit malt. On the palate, however, the beer is vapid. The vague malt quickly dissipates as the bitter hops break even faster. A great start, but a paltry to finish to this one.

A: Pours a hazy pale golden color with a decent head that fades to some lacing.

S: Aroma of citrus with a fruity sweetness and grain aroma.

T: Taste of fruity sweetness and grain. Mild bitterness and a slightly lingering fruity sweetness.

F: Fairly light body, crisp and refreshing.

O: I Expected a bit more malt flavor but on the whole is drinkable and good for a couple.

330ml bottle poured into pint glass 13/8/12

A hazy golden yellow with some yeasty sediment being pushed around by just a few big bubbles, massive three finger loose soapy head quickly falls too a thin film leaving a few patches of lace on the way

S some floral and noble hops with sour green apple, musty cardboard and yeast. doesn't quite smell right almost like an infection's setting in

T not far from the smell with more grassy noble hops, more like a Czech Pil if it wasn't for some caramels. I want too like this beer but there's some mildly off flavors.

M light bodied but quite foamy with some sour fruit notes on the finish

O off bottle perhaps, I can see where there going but somethings gotten in the way. drinkable but I wouldn't reach for a second, or perhaps I would just too see if there's something up with this bottle

Another thanks to Mikey for bringing this one around the planet for me, not my cup of tea but the effort is appreciated

Appearance: Light golden body with a good solid 2cm head. Settled down to around 1cm, with inconsistant thin lacing down the glass. A touch of haze, but very minor.

Aroma: A waft of melon and maybe a little stonefruit. A sweet, honey-like aroma (but not honey)... not sure how to describe. No trace of malt in the smell.

Taste: Fruity (same hints of melon and stonefruit) without being overpowering, and only a tiny trace of malt. Smooth and easy drinking, the profile is definitely on the side of delicate.

Mouthfeel: Light and bright, good amount of carbonation. Not much to fault on.

Drinkability: Nice, easy, and a great beer if you want taste without compromising the flavours of your meal. I think that it's one that I would be perfectly happy with, but not go out of my way for.

330ml bottle poured into a pint glass...

A- golden and slightly cloudy. head....er... what head...

S- did someone drop an old damp dish towel in this batch. There is difinately something funky going on in this beer.

T- closely follows the nose or maybe it was old dirty socks. This is not too pleasant for my palate.

MF- The mouth feel is like having a root canal... you cannot wait to get it over with.

O- I am SO glad I put that 6 pack back and picked up a single. Goodbye forever, beer with a funny name.

Pours a light straw color with a minimum of creamy white head that laces the glass all the way down. Smells floral and a little of noble hops. The taste is very clean, not much in the way of flavor, sweetness or bitterness. Mouthfeel is fairly watery. All in all, there's not really much going on here. I guess if it's a hot day, it would be ok. A little too pale for me, I guess.

Recommended by the bottle shop guy as one of his personal favourites.

Poured from a 330ml bottle into a tulip pint.

A: Cloudy pale orange body that is typical of bottle conditioned ales. The foamy white head settled from 2.5cm to 0.5cm fairly quickly but it didn't die down to nothing at least (like most other beers on the market).

S: Wisps of passionfruits mixed with honeydew melon. Quite a pleasant aroma, but the hops are not as floral as I would expect or like from this style. The grains/malts are non-existent so far.

T: Interesting, this pale ale is both fruity (melon and stone-fruits) and bland. It's got a theme however it falls flat when it comes to the strength of character/flavour. I find myself wanting more of a kick from this, which is sad because the flavour profile is great but it's just lacking a little more punch. The grains/malts are again non-existent here; this is a hop driven brew but the hops themselves could use a bit of amping up.

M: Good on this front. It's a little fizzy for the style but not so bad that it stands out... much... The body is a bit on the light side.

D: Nice effort for a micro-brewery however it is certainly lacking on the flavour side and one can't help but think if only they put just a bit more hops into the fermentation that this would be up there on par with Little Creatures and Co. In fact the more I drink this the more I realise that I've got a drawer full of Little Creatures Pale Ale's to dip into in my fridge and maybe it's time to crack another one open... hell yeah!

Food match: An ale you could probably match anything light with. Roast chicken with a light salad comes to mind. Just leave out the gravy.

Been moving through the Pale Ale's on offer from Dan Murphys this one is one I have picked up a few times and put back in favour of other beers that I hadn't tried yet.

Today was the day I tried it, pours a light straw colour with minimal head, smell well not getting much there on this one certainly not strong quite empty.

Taste wise it does not taste awful but it is uninspiring and feels too light in the mouth for my liking, I am glad I bought another beer of a known quantity, I am not writing this one off yet might try it at a warmer temperature to see if brings this beer to life, on this tasting occasion though I am not picking up anything distinct.

Had on tap at the Local Taphouse.

Pours a pale gold colour, slight orange with opaque chill haze. Head is generous, fizzing out just a bit on the top and leaving nice lace in thick curtains; slow bead trails up the glass capping off a pretty fine-looking drop.

Smell is nothing to write home about. A big household mould aroma, like clothes left in a wet, warm pile in a basement somewhere. Slight superpride smell on the back but yeah, that's not only unenjoyable but quite pungent too. It's got a smell though, so points, but doesn't bode well for the taste.

Taste is... better, but not great. Slight grainy note on the front with a touch of canola and sunflower seeds that develops some ale-y fruit esters; green apple mostly on the mid before developing a bland POR aroma towards the back, not overly gravelly but distinct soil and gritty kind of bitterness. Yeah, an uncomfortable blend, reasonably constructed but doesn't sit well with me. Feeling very blah about that palate.

Not a bad texture actually; quite full, lively without feeling overcarbonated. A lot to enjoy, if only the flavour were better.

Not an offensive beer, but certainly nothing I'd go back for.

extra pale golden, slightly hazy, low carbonation. thin white head. nothing out of the ordinary.

nice aroma. plenty of hops. even better on tap i must say. best before date is smudged so i cant comment on age. definitely fruity, a bit spicy, floral. very pleasant.

as an epa this doesnt quite fit for me. much more a (light) apa or blond ale. very reserved. balanced. nice hop bitterness and flavor. not over stepping the light malt. super easy drinking yet remains interesting and flavorful.

a) Cloudy pale yellow, fine white head with strong bubbling.
s) Sherbet, pineapple, kiwifruit & melon, slight cereal note.
t) Touch wheaty, fruit as above plus some guava. Light bitterness.
m) Light, crisp, touch sticky at the back.
d) Refreshing and approachable. Good summer drink.

Apperance - 3.0
Pours a finger of foamy white head that quickly reduced to a thin layer over a hazy yellow body.

Smell - 3.0
Aroma is dominated by citrus, mostly lemon and mandarine. Slightly sulphury with a little pale malt character.

Taste - 3.5
Crisp and refreshing, though I would call it more of a golden ale than an English style pale ale. Very delicate and light in a way that actually reminds me of Kolsch. Malt backbone is light and dusty, hops provide moderate bitterness and a citrus zest flavour.

Mouthfeel - 3.5
Carbonation is bordering on coarse over the tongue, and quite lively, the beer feeling light in the mouth.

Drinkability - 4.0
An easy drinker, though not one I would seek out again.

OVERALL - 3.35
I have to confess to being a little disappointed by this beer. I would rate it clearly below JS Golden Ale, an earlier Chuck Hahn creation. A pleasant, if unexciting summer session ale.

Ive been looking forward to trying this beer for ages and had some big expectations of it as it is brewed by one of Australia's best brewers, anyways it pours a pale golden orange colour with nice carbonation that leaves a frothy two finger head but hardly any lacing, the aroma is very fruity with some nice passionfruit hoppy notes coming thru on the nose but not much else, the taste is definately not what i expected at all i was definately thinking of so much more but unfortunately not it has a thin mouthfeel with tastes of bland fruity hops and some pale malts its definately a let down in my category and especially for the price it asks, sometimes it pays to not listen to the hype.

From notes as the brewery hadn't been added yet.

A - Pale, slightly orange gold pour with a thin, short lived white head.

S - Dull aromas. A hint of peachy, stone fruit and malt is present but the vibrant hop aroma of the best APAs is sorely lacking.

T - Softly flavoured attack. Well balanced mid palate with a slight (and style appropriate) edge towards fruity hops. Crisp, dry finish with a very faint lingering bitterness. Slight metallic and carbonic bight in the back palate.

M - Light to medium body with lots of carbonation. The carbonation is harsh and biting rather than spritzy and smooth. Crisp finish.

D - A decent but middling beer lacking in the refinement and edge needed from a great APA.

Pours out a very cloudy, hazy zesty orange/yellow. Looks EXACTLY like a Belgian white ale. Bubbly clingy lacy head, about two inches high on a vigorous pour. Bottle conditioned, so make sure you get that lovely yeast out, as that's where the flavour is!

Zesty, grassy hop characters come through. Lemon citrus, grassy pine, and hints of passionfruit. Subdued.

Big zesty lemon gives way to quite a bit of passionfruit, and hints of dry pineapple. A grassy, clean finish with only a hint of bitterness, compared to some other big Pale Ales.

A really nice quaffer, that is suited to an Australia summer. At only 4.5%, this is certaintly one of the better "session beers" that are now available, and not too expensive at all for a craft beer. Lighter body, lighter flavours. Good.
