I'm not sure if this is made in the Snowy Mountains, but I recall someone telling me this is owned by Hahn/Tooheys/Kiron etc etc...

Either way, it's been a while since I've had this.

Vessel: 425ml Schooner at the Strawberry Hills Hotel.

Appearance: Looks more like a lager than a Pale Ale. Very cloudy, hazy appearance, although from memory it's quite see through. Perhaps I have a bottom of the keg beer like Coopers? It's that classic golden yellow appearance typical of AAJs.

Aroma: Not a heap going on, some malty sweetness and faint hop bitterness? Pride of Ringwood - I suspect!.

Taste: Very malty sweet, next to no bitterness except after the swallow, a touch of hop bitterness floats in. Floral hop taste, which cuts through the malty sweetness.

Feel: Slightly more body than a typical Aussie adjunct lager. Less carbonation than an Aussie lager.

Overall: Calling it weird is harsh. However it doesn't know whether to be a decent lager, or an Australian Pale Ale. It's like it's trying to be a Coopers but missing the mark. It's not awful, not terrible but you're really pushing the ledger calling it a Pale Ale. It's Pale, sure. Had they called this a lager, I think it'd be received more positively. It's not horrible, but it's not really a great Pale Ale.

Drink this mentally as a lager, you'll have a much better experience.

Drank drafted in pint glass.
Cloudy amber with almost no head.
Fresh fruity malty nose.
On the palate it tasted refreshing with a malt finishing.

My first from Kosciuszko, I thought I'd get the story from their website: a micro-brewery that is part of an inn that is by a resort area near a big lake (with fishing) and mountains (with snow!) equidistant from Sydney and Melbourne; founded by Chuck Hahn in 2009 who has been a pioneer in Australian crafting since the 1980s. And the brewer is named for the snowy mountain named for the Polish military Renaissance Man honored for his role in the American Revolution and other tweaks of other empires.

As for the beer, it is decent and under-rated... but it also is no match for the best from the Motherland. (But then, Australia is hot and the beer must double quench.) Had as accompaniment to a sandwich in a nice park in the Sydney suburb planned by Walter burnley Griffin, who brought the Prairie School to Australia and who planned their capital at Canberra.

From bottle, Fruity pineapple nose. Hazy golden colour, white head, highly carbonated. Taste is bitter, creamy followed by lingering grapefruit. Not to bad.

This pale ale is decent. The beer poured a cloudy pale yellow with thin white head that is leaving a lace. The scent carried faint floral hop. The taste was slightly bitter with coriander tones. The Mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall this beer is easy drinking.

Format: a standard 330mL brown bottle with a nice macro label.

Appearance: pours out a pale light amber colour with moderate visible carbonation. A fluffy white head hangs about for a time before droping to a thin cap.

Aroma: some citrus there with orchard fruits and sweet malts.

Taste: more the orchard fruits with those sweet malts. A fair bit lighter than the aroma, but still pleasant.

Aftertaste: a mild bitterness on the finish, still a bit sweet.

Mouth feel: lighter in body with a moderate carbonation. Quite crisp.

Overall: not a bad pale ale, quite refreshing and definitely crisp and clean. Is it worth AU$65 a case? I'd take the 6-pack for $20 every now and then.

On tap, the beer arrived pleasing yellow color with orange hues and white foam. The pleasant aroma has orange citrus along with biscuit malt. On the palate, however, the beer is vapid. The vague malt quickly dissipates as the bitter hops break even faster. A great start, but a paltry to finish to this one.

A: Pours a hazy pale golden color with a decent head that fades to some lacing.

S: Aroma of citrus with a fruity sweetness and grain aroma.

T: Taste of fruity sweetness and grain. Mild bitterness and a slightly lingering fruity sweetness.

F: Fairly light body, crisp and refreshing.

O: I Expected a bit more malt flavor but on the whole is drinkable and good for a couple.

330ml bottle poured into pint glass 13/8/12

A hazy golden yellow with some yeasty sediment being pushed around by just a few big bubbles, massive three finger loose soapy head quickly falls too a thin film leaving a few patches of lace on the way

S some floral and noble hops with sour green apple, musty cardboard and yeast. doesn't quite smell right almost like an infection's setting in

T not far from the smell with more grassy noble hops, more like a Czech Pil if it wasn't for some caramels. I want too like this beer but there's some mildly off flavors.

M light bodied but quite foamy with some sour fruit notes on the finish

O off bottle perhaps, I can see where there going but somethings gotten in the way. drinkable but I wouldn't reach for a second, or perhaps I would just too see if there's something up with this bottle

Another thanks to Mikey for bringing this one around the planet for me, not my cup of tea but the effort is appreciated
