a really well executed take on this classic style, one of the best beers these guys make from a technical and adherence to tradition standpoint. its a sexy pint too from the nitro tap, with a two inch cream head that spills over the top of the glass and a cascade of nitrogen that continues to feed it, pitch black brew underneath when it finally settles. its dark sure, but there is no trace of that ashy bitter burnt barley here, instead a cleaner coffee note arises in the nose, and almost an earthy soil-esque thing happening with the flavor, its a neat malt base, sort of european tasting to me, maybe thats just the yeast with it, but it seems ancient and patient and mellow as can be, in no hurry to do anything, it relaxes me independently of the alcohol, which is cool and unique too. good roast, some dark cocoa, bread crusts, and a intense rich creaminess while remaining very dry. it sticks all in my moustache and drinks down easy, despite being a little stronger than say a dry irish stout normally would be. the oats add a lot, and its just right on nitro, a really well dialed in brew that i could drink until i got cut off. some of the better beer they do to be honest! exceptional oatmeal stout here, underappreciated in the kansas city scene, and for me a needed respite from hoppy beer in a day filled with ipa.

Serven in a pint glass.
It's black. It has a tan head that lasts forever.
It's roasted, but not too bitter.
The roasted malts are well balanced by the bittering hops. The sweetness of the oatmeal is balanced nicely as well.
It's nitro smooth.
Overall, this beer is good. It's easy to drink, quickly and in quantity.

This representation of a powerful sweet stout is one of the better I have tasted so far. Presenting with a deep black color and creamy tan head, the light roasted aroma hints of the quality within. Initially you are hit by a deep roasted flavor with a lingering sweet, dark maltiness. The full body is something more than many of my oatmeal stout experiences and supports a nice ale. The little sweetness grows and gets a little harsh by the bottom of the glass, but all together tasty.
