Definitely one of the better brewpub tripels I have tasted.

While sweet, this one was relatively dry and was very drinkable. Minimal hop presence. Some tropical fruit character.

Overall, not that complex, but quite tasty and easy to drink. Thank you Ladyface for not making a saccharine-sweet tripel like most brewpubs!

Picked up a growler to take home with me after a round at the driving range.

A - Overall appearance wasn't that great. Pours a beautiful golden hue, but with a lot more clarity than many tripels. Very minimal head and retention with limited lacing, but if memory serves me correctly, the head and lacing linger much better when straight from tap at the pub. The growler may have been a disadvantage to serving this style of brew.

S - The smell is not overpowering. Its very slight, although the yeasty/bready quality comes across plainly. A slight backnote of some tropical fruits, but ever so slight.

T - Quality flavor, and among the better flavors for a belgian style tripel available at a brewpub. As with the head, not overpowering, but much more pronounced. That yeastiness is apparent and imparts the expected fruity esters, but it's fruit note sort of lingers. I'm tempted to say banana, but its almost more of a banana candy note. Either way, it gives it a more unique quality.

M - Good to above average mouthfeel, a slight carbonation with a bit of viscosity that helps let the flavor dance on the tongue for a bit. Its not actually viscous, but the mouthfeel has a viscosity to it.

O - Overall, a quality offering that well worth the while. Best on tap at the brewhouse, but taking a growler of this home is a worthwhile proposition. Sadly, a good tripel is among the more expensive styles, so to get the equivalent of almost 3 750ml traditional belgians for $20 or less, it makes it something you can afford to treat yourself to more often.

Look: Golden yellow and completely see through. 1/4 inch head and no real retention

Smell: The beer has a very strong nose that consist of mainly bready yeast with hints of fruit in the back ground

Taste: Initially the beer is very sweet and it makes a smooth transition in to a bready bisquity finish typical of the style

Mouthfeel: Thin with medium to high carbonation

Overall: Very standard triple nothing really out or the ordinary or special but it is just done well everything is clean. The flavor is crisp and has a really high drinkability level

Consumed Feb 3rd, 2010 at Ladyface Ale Companie.

Beer was presented in a tulip glass. Lots of bubbles stream up through slightly cloudy but still partially transparent golden beer. Less than one finger head of white stayed in place halfway through a leisurely drink-down.

Aroma is sweet: honey, light citrus (sweet orange bordering on tangerine) and signature tripel softly powdery yeast.

Sweet on the tongue, much as on the nose. Citrus bite without an edge, faint bready malts, very mildly bitter ending and a clean finish. As the beer warmed somewhat, a bubblegum flavor crept in stealthily while the citrus notes subsided. Sweetness seemed to increase a hair as well.

Mouthfeel is unremarkable save for its nicely-done dryness.

Very well balanced and agreeable beer allowed me to finish a glass almost dangerously fast. Among the best brewpub tripels (perhaps THE best) I have had. Kudos to brewmaster Dave.

On-tap at Ladyface

A: The pour is a pale golden color with a finger of white head and some sticky lacing.

S: A little too much coriander aroma to this. Nice sweetness with a lot of nutmeg type aroma to it. Pretty sweet, but there is a nice bread and pale sugar character to it. Mild citrus peel notes, and a weird herbal aroma.

T: Sweet bread and sugar, a nice toast to it, surprisingly. Citrus peel and fruity sweetness, maybe a bit of peach. The same herbal note starts to creep in as it warms up, unfortunately. A little bit of a yeast not, too.

M: Medium bodied with a medium carbonation.

O: Way better than the Sauvignon blanc barrel aged one, but still not my favorite.

Appearance - Not the clearest of tripels I've had, but it had a pleasant golden color with a slight cloudiness. Head was about a fingers worth, with good lacing.

Smell - Nose was a little muted, but overall sweet and bready, with a hint of fruit.

Taste - The dominant taste was a sweet malty bread, with a background of fruit that comes to the front more at the finish. A pretty straightforward beer, but it does the things it does well.

Mouthfeel - A clean finish, nothing else really of note. Alcohol bite is minimal.

Overall - Good. Not that complex, but the characters it has are well balanced and pleasant.

HOME RUN!!! I am not a Belgian beer drinker for the most part. I went to Brussels last year and have acquired a taste for a FRESH TRIPPLE. One of my favorite breweries is Sierra Nevada and the Ladyface Tripple is way better than the SN version. Dave knows his Belgians so I expected this beer to be great and it is!!! The fact that he used un traditional american hops make this beer great. If you like a good tripple than go get this one!!!

On tap at Ladyface Ale Companie in Agoura Hills, CA.

Pours a clear light orange with an off-white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of grain, spices, yeast, and some fruity and alcohol aromas. Taste is of grain, fruit, and yeast up front with a nice spice finish. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good tripel but I think it tastes better than it smells.
