Served on-draught at Father's Office in Santa Monica into a stem-goblet. Cost was $8.00 USD plus tax. Reviewed from notes. Expectations were above average; I hadn't had beers from the brewery before but I figured it might be good because it's an anniversary ale.

A: Pours a 1.5 finger head of nice tan colour, nice cream, good thickness, and decent retention for the 9.8% ABV. Colour is a dark nontransparent caramel-ruby.

Sm: Toffee, plum, figs, roast, a very dry ester, and dry raisins. One of the dryest aromas I've eve experienced. A moderate strength aroma. Unpleasant because it dries me out so much. A hint of ammonia is present.

T: Fig, bright plum, dry ass raisin, spice, and dry bready notes. A strange herbal quad to be sure. Balanced enough but built strangely. I don't particularly care for it, but it's nicely complex.

Mf: Horrendously dry for a quad. Smooth. A strange mixture. Thickness is right on, but the dryness is awful.

Dr: Drinkable but horribly executed for a quad. I won't be having this again.

On tap at Ladyface Ale Companie in Agoura Hills, CA.

Pours a slightly murky brown with a beige head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, dark fruits, and brown sugar. Taste is of malt and slightly sour dark fruits. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good quad but it smells better than it tastes.
