An amber color with a thin white heaf that has good retention and very good lacing. The nose is the hops and some grains. The taste starts out with some grapefruit followed by some floral and pine hops, The aftertaste is a mix of grapefruit and pine. The mouthfeel is smooth, but also semi-dry on the tongue and cheeks. Overall this is a rather nice and very hoppy IPA that has a nice flavor that stays with you from the first sip to the last. Highly recommended.

This micro-brewed beer has pleasant citrus-hop bitterness and a mild smell, but it is not an especially hoppy IPA. The color suggested a full-bodied taste experience, but its looks were somewhat deceiving. It was a nice beer, but not especially diabolical. The alcohol content is 6.66%, which suggests something more sinister.

Had this on tap at Brazenhead last night.

Arrived with no head, left no lace. Deep amber color, decent clarity.

Smelled pretty good. Lots of citrus - pineapple and sweet grapefruit with hints of mango and some light pine.

Average bitterness with a good malt backbone.

Dry finish, easily drinkable. Overall not bad for my first North Peak offering.

An above average IPA that didn't benefit from me trying it immediately after the TBK White Raja (wow, that's a great beer!).

This beer is a copper/biscuit color with a pretty tall but loosely packed head. Aroma is some nice hop citrus-ness with the Cascade aroma up-front. Flavor is good bitterness, with more citrus packed in. Mouthfeel is a little on the thin side, but not bad. A very serviceable beer - I would recommend it.

I had this on-tap at Rozi's Wine House in Lakewood, OH.

Had on tap at Fries Cafe. Served in a Good ole pint glass.

A- I would call this beer rubyish orange. The initial glowing white head disappeares to the thinnest ivory head I have seen. Cloudy and murky means yummy hops.

S- s fantastic mixture of grapefruit hops with toffee / caramel hops creates a nice mixture of scents to be explored.

T- juicy fruity hops take control and then sweet hops and malt steal the show to guide You to happiness.

M- about perfect for an ipa. Nice and crisp but encompasses the whole mouth. Really nice.

Overall a wonderful beer. If I saw this beer regularly I would get it. Great balance but also a very hop forward taste. If You like ipas, get this beer

I'm not the hugest fan of ipa, but do enjoy them. The beer is a rich orange with a thin layer of head. The smell was citrusy and the taste was as well. I'd say it was medium on the hops for an ipa.

Overall an enjoyable beer. I had it at the jolly pumpkin in ann arbor.

Reviewed from notes.

Pours amber with an off white head and some light lacing. The nose brings out some very light citrus and pine hops with a bit of caramel malt in the background. Taste is of very light hops with some caramel and semi sweet malt. Feel is medium with light bitterness. Overall, just an average beer.

Draft. Stopped in the Jolly Pumpkin brewery and had a little sampler of several beers. Orange opaque pour with a slight head. Fruity, citrus notes. Citrus hop taste. Smooth with a slight alcohol bite. Medium mouthfeel. Not bad and better than I expected.

Appearance: Arrives with a hazy amber color and a modest head that fritters away, leaving just a few shards of lace

Smell: Grainy and malty, with a touch of pith

Taste: Opens with a caramel flavor that moves in a bitter pithy direction by mid-palate; finishes with a grainy bitterness though considerable malt sweetness lingers as well

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with low to moderate carbonation

Drinkability: I prefer a drier, more citrusy IPA; this is a bit more like a very hoppy amber

Review from notes taken 10 15 09. Poured from tap at Jolly Pumpkin Ann Arbor into a clean, clear glass.

A Amber color with creamy head and nice lacing. 3.5

S Smell of medium malt but also a kick of strong barley and alcohol. 3.0

T Strong amber, like an imperial amber (I did not have the benefit of the internet to see the style) but with a barley harshness that I did not like. 2.5

M Medium feel with lingering bitterness too far into the aftertaste. 2.5

D Fair drinkability with that lingering bitterness and relative strength of alcohol. 3.0

Bottled 1/13/14.

Pours a murky orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Tiny particles of sediment are seen suspended in the beer after the pour. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest and earth flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a solid, slightly earthy citrus forward hop presence all around.

Picked this up on a whim during a recent stop at my favorite beer store. It pours a handsome copper color with a thick off white head that gives way to a nice film and lacing. Bonus points for the clearly unfiltered sediment floating in my glass, definitely one of my favorite attributes to any beer. The nose is somewhat malty for an ipa but has underlying notes of pine and citrus fruit. The body is a bit thicker than most ipas with a bit of chewy dry finish on the tail. The flavor is quite packed with lemon and pine hops. There is an initial citrus bite followed by a nice malt note then finishing with a bitter pine and citrus bite. This one does seem more bitter than the advertised ibu. I know its a gimmick but I give extra credit for the 66.6 ibus and the 6.66% abv.

Interesting beer, thanks to everlast223 (reddit).

Pours a nice creamy pillowy 2 finger head that fades at a med to slower pace and leaves nice soapy lacing all over the place, a super hazy murky orange-red colored beer that even seems to block the light.

Nose is very fruity, fruity hops everywhere, mild tangerine and clementine citrus, hint of grapefruit, fruity bubblegum, little apricot and stone fruit, hint of pine and sap, mild spicy hop, and into candy malts with a little syrupy note, caramel candy.

Taste brings sweet malts at first, a little candy like, syrupy candy with a little caramel. Then hops come in big, spicy and chewy right off, quite bitter too, with an earthy note. Hops bring a little fruit but not nearly like the nose, hint of stone fruit and fruity bubblegum, into a mild pine and sap too. I also get the slightest hint of a buttery diacetyl feel I think, it's the slightest bit but I really think it's there. The finish is sticky and fairly sweet still, hint more buttery diacetyl, but a big chewy spicy hop that seems to linger forever, touch of orange rind too.

Mouth is med bod, lots of fluffy carb.

Overall not bad, the nose was good, appearance great, taste was OK but the hops turn a bit meh, spicy and chewy rather than that nice fruity flavors, and that hint of diacetyl I think turns off a bit. Otherwise nice.

It's good to be bad... or even evil at times. Don't get me wrong, I love God but I admit I was drawn to North Peak's creative 6.66 ABV and 66.6 IBU's as well as their diabolically different shaped bottle. This brew has a great pour and its color and aroma is unmistakeably tempting; however, this IPA left me wanting more and in my opinion really does not standout from any other APA.

Appearance: golden orange color. almost clear but just a touch of haze. a finger or so of a whitish head that leaves behind a spotty lacing.

Smell: grassy/musky aroma. resiny hops, maybe some citrus. sweet malts

Taste: again dominated by a grassy, musky taste, that is slightly bitter. hops are there but almost tasteless but slightly citrus. good amount of caramel malts

Mouthfeel: fairly light, a little bitter and a little bit sweet

Overall: ehhh. with all the ipas out there this one falls way short for me. too much grass and musk rather than nice hoppy flavors.

Pours a slightly hazy copper with a frothy cream head that slowly dissipates, leaving minimal lacing.

Caramel malt, resin, and grapefruit form the initial aroma. Hints of lemon and pine add complexity.

Flavor reveals a bready, slightly sweet caramel malt backbone, with sharp notes of lemon and grapefruit underlying the profile. The finish is fairly bitter and resiny. Tea-like hops emerge in the aftertaste.

Body and carbonation are moderate, with a fairly harsh astringency at the finish.

More malty than most, with good citrus hop flavoring, but the finish is a bit too bitter and harsh for my liking.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 9/20/2013. Pours moderately cloudy orange amber color with a 2 finger dense cream colored head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, orange zest, lemon zest, pine, floral, grass, light caramel, bread, and floral earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity of hop notes with a fair amount of malt balance; and good strength. Taste of grapefruit, pineapple, tangerine, orange zest, lemon zest, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, wheat, bread, and floral earthiness. Good amount of earthy pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest, pineapple, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, and bread on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity of bright citrus/floral hops with a moderate malt balance; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy, crisp, and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice IPA! All around good complexity of citrus/floral hop flavors with moderate malt balance; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle at Boston's Bistro & Pub, Dayton, OH

A: The beer is slightly hazy amber yellow in color and has a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head that died down and left a large patch of bubbles on the surface, a collar around the edge and lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of pine resin hops are present in the nose.
T: Much like the smell, the taste has light to moderate aromas of pine resin hops. There is a moderate amount of bitterness that lingers through the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This IPA isn't overly bitter and isn't that difficult to drink.

Pours a dark orange with a small head that fades fast but left some lacing behind. The smell is hoppy and sweet, with some citrus notes. It tastes like it smells, hoppy, sweet, mild citrus. It finishes with a hint of bitterness, but nothing overpowering. Some malt comes through in the aftertaste and finishes sweet. A smooth medium mouthfeel, a beer done well with good flavor, but nothing that stands out as an exceptional IPA.

I'm drinking out of the bottle, because it's summertime and drinking beer from a stubbie is a summertime activity. Anyway, I will pour one out and tell you how it looks and such.

Poured into a chilled beer mug. Lot's of cream colored foam. The color is a lovely orangey amber, slightly cloudy. Looks like an IPA. Smells faintly of hops, but it's very subtle when poured. In the bottle it smells of flowers and alcohol. Perfect. The head is hanging around nicely as I drink it. Overall the look and smell are very refreshing and satisfying.

The mouthfeel is very substantial. It slides over your tongue and lingers there. Definitely not a light beer. Chewy and satisfying.

The taste is fantastic. Nice bitterness from the hops, and a nice dose of the flowery, resinous flavor I like from hops. The sweetness of the malt balances well with the bitterness, but it's a very subtle maltiness. Not complex, which I enjoy on a warm summer day. The bitter and sweet flavors combine in each sip and neither overwhelms. This beer manages to be both interesting and exciting, and refreshing and subtle at the same time. Be careful! You can put down many of these in a sitting, and the proclaimed 6.66% ABV will kick your butt.

Overall, this is one of my all time favorite summer beers. It's refreshing, and flavorful, and substantial.

A: Dense hazy golden orange with a thick off white head, about two fingers worth

S: Pineapple hits your nostrils right off the bat. Then comes orange and caramel. It immediately becomes floral and malty towards the end.

T: floral, earthy hops immediately coat your mouth. Earthy as a fall day. Dirty oranges and thick pine dominate the flavors early. Mid mouth is where the toffee malt comes through. Dry bread. The finish is all dry pine with a decent dry hop bite that lingers ever so briefly.

M: Decent mouthfeel. Its quite easy to drink. Nothing in the way of carbonation.

O: A very sessionable IPA. Not standout in any way but something that would be refreshing on a hot day. /83

Snub nose bottle

A - pours an amber copper color, cloudy. About 2 inches of thick off white foam.

S - piney hop, malt, not bad, but not a whole lot.

T - dense wet piney hop, lots of malt, as it warms some orange peel comes out.

M - standard. Medium carb, good finish.

O - goes down as a passable IPA. Good, nothing bad about it, actually finishes a lot like an amber. Certainly well made.

Slightly hazy orange/copper. Dense off-white head that sticks for a while.
Nose is good. Lots of grapefruit. Fresh hops. Malts waft through.

Taste is astringent hops. Malt is lost. Some citrus flavors, but not much balance. Slight metallic flavors.

I think this one is real underrated here on BA. I mean, this is an interestingly hopped, crisp and clean, drinkable ipa that is outstanding when fresh. to each their own though I guess. this pours a crystal clear lighter shade of bronze, with a fluffy white head, pure in color and long lasting. the nose is fruity and citrusy hops in equal proportion, with a mix of English style and American barley malt. the caramel factor is low, but its there in aroma and taste, giving a little body and a little class to this otherwise hop heavy brew. the flavor balances nicely between the different hop varieties, bouncing between sweet and bitter and fruity and oily and pungent and mellow. its kind of an all in one brew, stagnated in such a way that all aspects can be enjoyed in isolation. maybe too discordant for some? I liked the punctuation, and I found its feel to be majorly refreshing. medium body, maybe just under, upbeat carbonation, and a crispy finish. magic when ice cold, less impressive as it warms up. give this a try, its something a little different and I liked it a lot.
