A - Pours a honey color with a one finger slightly offwhite head. Average retention and lacing

S - Aromas of pine upfront with a slight grassiness to it.. Caramel malts in the back.

T - Hops are present although it is more on the finish than upfront. Very slight pineiness upfront followed by a nice wheat/caramel maltiness. Very good flavor

M - Very good mouthfeel. Both creamy and slick. Nice burn that isnt overpowering

O - A very enjoyable wheat IPA. Different than most I have tried. Will look for it again. A sessionable beer for sure

I haven't seen these stubby bottles since the last time I've seen Strange Brew even a bit stubbier than a Red Stripe, or it's just my imagination. Pours a glowing orange copper hue with a thicket of khaki tan head forming nicely with fine speckled lacing spread evenly. Aroma has nice pungent citrus and pine hop accents with hints of floral notes as well. Sharp wheat note amongst the hop parade. An American wheat IPA from Michigan cool. Juicy citrus/mango/pine hops with a sweet, semi sugary malt profile sharp wheat accents. Mouthfeel is medium bodied a bit cloying with hop oils, mild alcohol burn and bitterness in the finish. Not offensive just doesn't end as dry as I like my hoppy beers, interesting to say the least and quite enjoyable experience. Super fresh brewed mid March.

This beer is a rich amber in color, nearly clear but with some depth to it. Activity is fairly continuous, forming a head just over a finger tall that remains dense even as it dissipates. In its wake remains very thick rings of lacing toward the top of the glass, giving way to lighter patches as it recedes.
There's a good amount of depth, character and strength in the nose. The primary aromas are pine, orange rind, a light caramel sweetness, wheat, and an herbal/floral mix.
Pine comes through strongly on the start and brings a pungent, oily hops bitterness complimented by a strong dose of orange rind (much more rind than flesh). A sturdy malt backs the hops while letting them take control, and a raw leafy/herbal hops flavor lies underneath. To add more balance to the bitterness is the citric aspect and a touch of caramel sweetness from the malts. Wheat is ever present and, rather than detracting from the character, adds an extra element to the flavor as well as a fuller body and richer texture. All in all, this is quite complex and takes some working through. In the finish, one catches just a hint of soapiness just near the back of the throat.
This one is a pretty dry beer, though it doesn't lack in depth, as both the malts and wheat serve to make this richer, fuller and a bit deeper than it might be otherwise. A somewhat puckering finish lingers. Carbonation is moderate, not too heavy, and body is medium.
This beer is very well-brewed and a unique one beside. I'll definitely be trying more from these guys.

11.2oz squat bottle, served in a standard pint glass

A - pours with a short-lived, quarter inch of loose, slightly off-white colored foam. the beer is mostly clear (sediment at the bottom of the bottle), gold in color.

S - grainy, yet slightly sweet (wheat) malt. slightly floral, and lightly grassy hops. just a smidgen of sulfur and soapiness as well.

T - slightly floral and bitter hops, bringing some citrus to the table as well. all the while, wheat malt lays a lightly sweet bed underneath.

M - lightly bodied, with sharp prickly carbonation. finishes extremely clean, with some light lingering hoppy bitterness.

D - well, easy to drink. has a decent flavor, just wish there was a bit more of it. one of the better ones from this brewery.

A decent IPA with significant wheat added. An orangey piney IPA taste. Nice orange appearance and creamy foamy head. The wheat adds to the creamy mouthfeel. Hop aromas. Good drinkability, likely the wheat balances potential astringency from the hops.

4th beer for the 4th of July gathering that my bro-in-law bought...LUV U BRO!!!!

The appearance is a cloudy copper color with white head that laces nicely. The smell is good...citrus/grapefruit followed by piney undertones. The taste is powered by apricot/grapefruit taste with a nice wheat/malt balance. The mouthfeel is good and could drink this in any relaxed setting. Very good beer and recommend.

Vicious is an American Wheat IPA. The cloudy pour lets you know it's unfiltered, as well. Lots of citrus in the nose with a bit of banana. There's an interesting sensation I'm trying to figure out how to describe. It's got the aftertaste of a huge IPA, but that giant hop bite wasn't in the initial taste. Still a good amount of hops in the very bitter finish. Quite a bit of orange and banana up front. Very smooth, crisp, and light. Leans more toward an IPA than a wheat.

It's very interesting and definitely worth giving a try.

I was truly shocked at how great this beer was.
I had never herd of this company before, but the aesthetics of the bottle, and its simplicity old school look instantly made me want to try it.
Smooth, incredibly smooth, slight citrus, but more of a wheat/grainy type taste. Its not that theres an explosion of different flavors, but the low bitterness, pleasant slight fruity after taste it just fantastic.
I would disagree with other reviews who claim to find more fruit flavors then actually exist, but its truly a beer you could have 3-4 and not feel full.
Honestly, it reminded me of a red stripe (besides its similar bottle shape) before red stripe changed it flavor and it became extremely bitter and unenjoyable.
You MUST try this beer, and you will see the smoothness makes it a solid wheat IPA.
Would go well with fish, or even during a desert or after a large meal. Fabulous stuff.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a clear copper, with a couple fingers of rich and creamy bright-white head. This retains with a smooth ½ finger, which throws up a robust cascade of froth onto the sides of the glass, ringing them with sticky lacing. The aroma smells floral and piney, with a blast of bright tropical fruit notes of juicy pineapple and mango. A ripe dankness also mixes in, while the wheat gives this an extra bready kick of sweetness across the back of the nose and really pushes that fruit character forward.

The taste is crisp with green grapefruit and tart wheat flavor, with a flood of sticky tropical fruit and herbal tones that spreads out across the back of the profile. This finishes dry and resinous with a touch of lingering bitter pith. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a slick herbal creaminess on the edges and a light sharpness that hits the tongue after each sip. Man, this is pretty easy drinking though with a low alcohol feel.

This bottle had a little age on it but didn’t seem to hamper this at all or maybe some of that faded bitterness helped push all of that juicy tropical fruit character to the forefront of this as that was definitely my favorite part of the beer. It’s definitely a unique take on an IPA and I’d be more than willing to check this out again sometime.

The head was completely obnoxious. It took me about 10 minutes to pour this because of the abundant collection of head, and that was on a very passive pour. The body is a cloudy golden-orange.

Good smell of grass, lemon zest, and clove.

The wheat is more forward than the hops and is a banana ester and clove. The hops are grassy and herbal. Slightly bitter.

Mouthfeel is thin with sharp carbonation.

Overall, this was just ok for me. The smell and taste were decent, but the body was lacking and it certainly wasn't worth the trouble of fighting through pouring it.

12 ounces out of the stubby bottle and into a pint glass.

A dark orange with a amber huge.

Taste of caramel, honey and bread with a citrus finish. The finish is almost candy like. The body is very rich and very enjoyable.

Very drinkable, love this IPA!

11.5 ounce bottle, bottled on December 21, 2010. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a clear orange/amber color with about an inch off-white head. Aroma is mostly citrusy (orange, grapefruit) and piney hops, along with some bready/wheat malt. The taste is similar to the aroma, it taste mostly like citrusy (orange peel, grapefruit) and pine/grassy hops, and some grainy/bready malt. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit coating and is well carbonated. Drinkability is good, it's smooth and goes down easy. I think it's a good brew, I liked it. I'll have to try more of the North Peak brews in the future.
