North Peak Hoodoo Wet Hop Double IPA is brewed with fresh from the farm Michigan hops for exceptional flavor. Hoodoo is hops start to finish with a little malt in the middle.
The Hoodoo man is a trans-cultural phenomena, but his roots run deep in Northern Michigan. He is often seen dancing and chanting, drinking up brews that bear his name, as if under the spell of his ancestors - or the power of the hauntingly beautiful Northern White Cedar that he spends his time beneath.
GRAINS: Pale Malt, Crystal 40 & Wheat Malt
HOPS: Cascade, Centennial, Citra, Chinook & fresh from the bine Cascade
88 IBU

Pours a hazy deep copper with a finger of eggshell colored foam. Bitter twigs and sticks with lots of tree sap and resin on the nose. Earthy with a deep tree bark bitterness. Lots of tree sap, grassy notes.

A lot darker color than I expected. Almost deep caramel in color. Nose is almost sweet but strong of hops. Taste has a buttery resinous taste that carries for a few s Vonda after initial taste. Decent beer

Wow. This is probably my favorite fresh hop ale. Not sure why it only get an 86. Beautiful citrusy orange floral aroma. Taste is follow with a considerable bitterness. Oily slick mouthfeel, heavy. Awesome beer to look forward to.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 9/20/2016. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy medium orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, honey, caramel, lightly toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of juicy citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big big tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, honey, caramel, lightly toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus peel bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, lemon/orange zest, pine, honey, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate dark/bready malt sweetness; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/sticky, and slightly slick/resinous balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Minimal warming alcohol for 8%. Overall this is an awesome wet hop DIPA! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate dark/bready malt sweetness; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. This is a lot less aggressively bitter/resinous, and more juicy/balanced on the hop flavors than the previous batches. A highly enjoyable offering.

12 ounce bottle, dated 09/20/2016.
Bottle into snifter with a muddy orange hue and short-lived, one-finger off-white head.
Aroma is a mix of citrus and dank, green pine, balanced equally by sugary caramel malt.
Taste leans more toward the sugary caramel malt, with the hops hanging out in the background. Booziness becomes apparent as the beer warms, along with a slight warming in the belly throughout.
Mouthfeel is on the plus side of medium with a resiny sweetness that lingers until a building bitterness comes in late.
Overall, Hoodoo is not what I was looking for in a wet hop IPA. The malt sweetness is the star of the show, leaving those precious wet hops in the background.

Deep amber colored body; thick, fluffy, sticky, white head. Spicy, grassy aroma; crystal malt sweetness in the background. Flat citrus flavor; bold hop bitterness; some alcohol. Medium body; creamy; slight astringency.
A fair little beer with a big, boozy bite.
