A: Bright shade of orange brown with a big white head.
S: Heavy yeast presence, with noticeable hops and candy sugar. There's also floral and clove characters along with fruity (banana and pear) attributes.
T: My initial reaction is that this is pretty dry. The pale malt and hops are most readily apparent without much sweetness to speak of. Maybe a little apple and pear, but not much fruit. Finish is long, a little spicy and somewhat bitter.
M: Light, crisp and well-carbonated. Well-fitting for the flavor.
Overall, a quality beer that I appreciate paired well with the right foods. As far as sipping by itself, I usually prefer tripels that are sweeter than this one.

Poured from their capped bottle into a chalice, nice two finger head, tight small cream colored bubbles, left significant lacing. Did not hold as long as the Chimay red, but certainly above average. Color is a hazy straw orange.
Smell some nuttiness and slightly more hop notes than what I have come to expect from Chimay, but definitely pleasing. As I often say in my reviews, this is not my best area, so I often miss subtle notes.
First taste had an almost almond bright note, then the citrus, last some spice, very subtle peppery bite, not bad, don't panic, it isn't spicy in the sense that it creates heat. Like all of the Chimay brands, other flavors show up as they warm. The chalice is a must!
Mouthfeel is full and rich all the way. Unlike American attempts at this type, the Belgians know how to hide their ABV!
Overall, I prefer Chimay Red, followed by Blue, then this. That being said, this is an outstanding Belgian Triple, well worth the experience, my guess is it is a great first Triple, because the color and aroma will please many different palates.
