I thoroughly enjoy Tripels. One of my favorite styles, without a doubt. I also thoroughly enjoy Chimay. One of my favorite Belgain breweries. Yippee yo, lets go.
Poured out of the classically decorated Chimay 750 ml bottle, into a rather run of the mill "pint" glass. Yeah, yeah, yeah, i'm too lazy to grab my goblet. Absolutely opaque. Cloudier than the surface of Jupiter. A great looking, one finger head, sticks around for quite a while.
That yeasty "Chimay" odor is about the only thing i notice in the nose. Perhaps some light fruits, maybe peaches and green grapes peak through the yeast. A little floral aroma.
Tastes very fruity and champagne like. Light fruits, grapes and peach or nectarines. yeasty. Very, very, champagne like. A bit of white pepper spices things up a bit.
Feels good, drinks good. A good representation of the style. One of the more florally and fruity tripels i have had, but none the less, enjoyable.
Chimay makes quality brews, and this beer doesn't break the mold. Buy up , drink up.
