I don't know if I'm just partial to different tripel's, but this one just doesn't live up to the hype in my eyes. Poured out of a corked, 750ml bottle.
It's a good looking beer, golden, beautiful long-lasting head, medium lacing.
Smell's very nice, incredibly fruity, with spicy undertones.
I wasn't blown away by the taste. It isn't nearly as complex as I like my tripels (hat's off to final absolution), and i just kept finding myself wanting more out of it than i got. It's fruity, very mildly hopped, and quite light. It hides the abv well, but still shines through every few sips.
It's medium bodied with heavy carbonation that retains throughout the entire bottle. Leaves a nice hoppy aftertaste that makes you want to drink more... (don't you ALWAYS want to drink more?)
I don't think this is a very drinkable beer. Given the price, and given the taste, I just can't hang. I would never pass one up if bought for me, but I won't go out of my way for it.

Poured from their capped bottle into a chalice, nice two finger head, tight small cream colored bubbles, left significant lacing. Did not hold as long as the Chimay red, but certainly above average. Color is a hazy straw orange.
Smell some nuttiness and slightly more hop notes than what I have come to expect from Chimay, but definitely pleasing. As I often say in my reviews, this is not my best area, so I often miss subtle notes.
First taste had an almost almond bright note, then the citrus, last some spice, very subtle peppery bite, not bad, don't panic, it isn't spicy in the sense that it creates heat. Like all of the Chimay brands, other flavors show up as they warm. The chalice is a must!
Mouthfeel is full and rich all the way. Unlike American attempts at this type, the Belgians know how to hide their ABV!
Overall, I prefer Chimay Red, followed by Blue, then this. That being said, this is an outstanding Belgian Triple, well worth the experience, my guess is it is a great first Triple, because the color and aroma will please many different palates.
