Poured from a 750 ml bottle into a Duvel Tulip. (I know, the beer gods will get me for not drinking it out of a Chimay Goblet...)
Beautiful honey gold color with a thick, inch high honey head that settled into a 1/8 in covering throughout the glass. Nice lacing. It was quite cloudy, but I think it was because it had been handled a lot recently and hadn't had a chance to settle undisturbed.
Smelled primarily of yeast and alcohol. Not as nicely balanced as Westmalle Tripel.
Taste was not really balanced. Tasted yeasty, then alcoholicy, then bitter, but never really smooth. Left a lingering bitterness.
The carbonation left my mouth feeling a bit rough. Not a real clean finish.
The alcohol wasn't hidden well, and I didn't like the aftertaste. I was hoping this would be compare well to the Westmalle Tripel I had several days ago, but this fell well short.
