Poured into a goblet to see a slightly hazy, medium gold brew topped with a thick bubbly head that seems to stick around forever, giving me lots of time to sniff at it. I'm picking up some clove-like spice, a bit of fruit, and the classic Belgian yeast. The first thing I notice after sipping on this is the smooth, creamy mouthfeel, though the carbonation is still there to tickle your tongue as the flavour gets ready to overwhelm it. Let's see here... apple, clove, yeast, banana, maybe some orange, and probably some other stuff I can't figure out. Unfortunately the 8% ABV comes through just a bit too much for me, though a year or two in the cellar would likely round that out.
Overall a tasty beer but I'm still gonna stick with my Fin du Monde.

Poured from their capped bottle into a chalice, nice two finger head, tight small cream colored bubbles, left significant lacing. Did not hold as long as the Chimay red, but certainly above average. Color is a hazy straw orange.
Smell some nuttiness and slightly more hop notes than what I have come to expect from Chimay, but definitely pleasing. As I often say in my reviews, this is not my best area, so I often miss subtle notes.
First taste had an almost almond bright note, then the citrus, last some spice, very subtle peppery bite, not bad, don't panic, it isn't spicy in the sense that it creates heat. Like all of the Chimay brands, other flavors show up as they warm. The chalice is a must!
Mouthfeel is full and rich all the way. Unlike American attempts at this type, the Belgians know how to hide their ABV!
Overall, I prefer Chimay Red, followed by Blue, then this. That being said, this is an outstanding Belgian Triple, well worth the experience, my guess is it is a great first Triple, because the color and aroma will please many different palates.
