A mountainous crater of white foam tops this sparkling, orange-gold beer. Lots of sweet malt and yeast/hop spice in the nose. I should probably let this warm a bit to better appreciate the aroma, but I can't wait that long!
This is an incredibly drinkable beer at 8% abv--sweet pale malts, some subtle fruity notes, yeast spice, and just enough hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is incredibly light, bubbly, and creamy.
Chimay White was probably the first tripel I ever tasted, though I knew little about Belgian beer, let alone the style, at that time. Revisiting it now that I'm without my North American go-to tripels from Unibroue and Allagash in Tokyo makes me glad that I can get this at the local supermarket.
