Cellared and served at 55 degrees. Best before 2010 on bottle.

A: Poured a light amber with a massive foamy white head into a Duvel tulip. Maybe because of the glass, the head produced a Duvel type head, with clumps and all. This is the first time that I see this from a Chimay white.

S: Apple, peach, very fruity. A bit of phenols / medicinal too.

T: Hard to define, there's many things going on here. A bit of fruit, some spice, slightly floral. Many things are going on but nothing seems to stand out over the others. Very nice balance between malt and hops. A little hop bitterness at the end.

M: Creamy, yet sharp and crisp. Not too carbonated.

D: Alcohol does not poke through much, you kinda know it's there and it's works as a warning not to abuse it. I could definately have another.

Overall, enjoyable tripel, although I think the Westmalle has a bit of a better mouthfeel and taste.

Poured from their capped bottle into a chalice, nice two finger head, tight small cream colored bubbles, left significant lacing. Did not hold as long as the Chimay red, but certainly above average. Color is a hazy straw orange.

Smell some nuttiness and slightly more hop notes than what I have come to expect from Chimay, but definitely pleasing. As I often say in my reviews, this is not my best area, so I often miss subtle notes.

First taste had an almost almond bright note, then the citrus, last some spice, very subtle peppery bite, not bad, don't panic, it isn't spicy in the sense that it creates heat. Like all of the Chimay brands, other flavors show up as they warm. The chalice is a must!

Mouthfeel is full and rich all the way. Unlike American attempts at this type, the Belgians know how to hide their ABV!

Overall, I prefer Chimay Red, followed by Blue, then this. That being said, this is an outstanding Belgian Triple, well worth the experience, my guess is it is a great first Triple, because the color and aroma will please many different palates.
