1032nd Review on BA
Bottle to Chimay Goblet
11.2 oz

Dont understand the bottle code, so oh well.
Purchased a single 11.2 from Bevmo, Chino Hills, CA

App- A very nice looking yellow/soft butter color with a two finger very slow receding head that doesnt leave any cling or lace but looks like a fully loaded pitri dish or pond layer.

Smell- "Is that cheap beer" says my wife. No hunny its not. I was a tad bit dissapointed in the nose. It was a bit like old something, but maybe a tad soapy. Lacking a full popping yeast and some spice. More along the lines of a lager to me.

Taste- It's just okay. Its not the best tripel I have had but it isnt the worst. Its fairly soft with a good booze note and the 8% comes acoss fairly well. Like the nose. Fairly buttery and lemony with some nice spice tinges.

Mouth- Light/medium bodied and a medium fairly bubbly carbonation level. Leaves a bit of hay, yeast and damp flavors behind. Fairly spicy.

Drink- Well 2 of 3 Chimay just havent delivered. I am really hoping when I re-buy a Blue it delivers a lot better. Ill probably come back to a large format as I hear they do better with flavors.

Hazy golden orange colour with a massive, part foamy and part bubbly white head that looks quite rough. It slowly recedes in size from about three-fingers width to about a thin lace.

Banana & clove mix upfront coupled with some yeast and a lot of spice. Not what I was expecting when I picked this one up but very nice indeed. There is some nice citrus and good hops to round this one off.

Citrus & clove to start with followed by some hops and Belgian yeast. There is a lot going on with this beer, some strong dark fruit flavours hit around the middle and maybe some pear too.

Medium, smooth and well carbonated, there is also a nice citrus sting upfront with this beer. It has a strong hops presence and also has a good feel to it.

Chimay never disappoints. Perhaps not there strongest offering when compared with the Rouge or the near perfect Bleue, this is by no means a failure and goes down very well indeed.

On tap at Tiger!Tiger!

A: Hazy golden color with a beautiful off white head.

S: A really nice mix of fruit and grassy hops. A good amount of spiciness to the aroma as well.

T: Banana, clove and a nice dash of grassy and slightly peppery hops alongside some nice spiciness. Really tasty stuff. I need to get this more often.
