A HUGE thanks to Thorpe429 for bringing this back for me from Belgium! Truly a generous soul!

.33L brown glass pry-top, plain silver cap, no back label. Front stamped L10-681...which I believe means it's the 681st batch brewed in 2010...(?) Served in a large Chimay chalice.

Pours an ever-so-slightly hazy but bright golden yellow with 1 inch of sudsy bleach white head. Nose is classic "Belgian yeast" fruitiness plus hay and citrus. Smells like a field full of wild flowers on a dry Summer day. I get a hint of coriander too, almost like a wit.

Palate is dry and sudsy. Flavors of orange rind, coriander, white pepper, hay/straw, lime zest, wheat grain and orange glazed sweet bread. Finish is drying and zippy. Very floral, too.

Notes: I'm surprised by how much this tastes like a witbier. Pretty tasty and definitely a "bier de table." I'm truly honored to have tried it! Thanks again Thorpe!

Bottle dated 2007. My cousin shared this bottle with my bro, my wife and I last night. The beer poured a nice bright golden color with a nice white fizzy head. The aroma of the beer was a nice spicy blend with a hoppy nose. The taste was nicely carbonated which I enjoy and it also had a nice malty/hoppy balance. The beer does run off the tongue very quickly after tasting so it doesn't have hte full body that the other Chimay beer do. Still a nice refreshing beer and nice to try something rare.

I had the opportunity to taste this beer on a tasting organized by BA's Jeffo and Doopiedoopiedoo. Actually I already had a bottle on my shelf. It was a gift from the Brabander, as I believe this one is too. This beer was the warmer, the welcome beer.

See for the total beer line up my review of the Brewery - Black Tuesday.

A - A white head on top of a yellow haze. One could also easily say it was amber in color.

S - A nice pine and citrus smell enters my noose, in that exact order.

T - A bit light in body, but yeh what do you expect from a blond. The taste is good however, again pine and citrus.

M - A medium to high carbonation, as goes for the bitterness in the end; also medium.

O - For a light beer its quite good. Thanks Thijs for sharing.

Pours a very cloudy golden orange with a thick white head that reduces to a one-finger sheet.

Smells of malt primarily with some esters of lemon or other citrus. The taste is much the same, though the fruit isn't as prominent. Hints of honey near the end.

Mouthfeel is quite nice, with good thickness and carbonation. Overall, a very drinkable beer that would be great for sessioning.

Pours gold with a large fading head.
Nose shows Belgian phenols, grassy hops and a very soft but off-putting decomposing plant matter/muddy note.
Flavours concentrate one the phenols, grassy and spicy hops and light sweet malt. Finishes very dry however.
Carbonation seems a bit over the top.

Bottle: Poured a hazy golden beer with a huge head with just above standard retention. Aroma is comprised of quite strong malt with some spice mix. Taste is quite refreshing with again the malt hitting you at first and ending with some noticeable spice mix. The body is thinner then the other Chimay but the carbonation is great. Overall, this is a very refreshing beer but not up to the standard of the other Chimay.

I had this beer at The Auberge de Poteaupré, right down the road of Scourmont Abbey. This beer pours a pale yellow, and looks like a pilsner. Thats where the similarities end. Supposedly the beer that the monks themselves drink, this one tasted like a triple, but without the alcoholic punch. Very flowery and aromatic, with the expected belgian funk mixed in. A truly excellent beer.

Drank from my Ciney sniffer

A - Pours a cloudy pale honey color with Atwood fingered white head that retains well.

S - Heavy bready yeast aroma with a little lemon citrus

T - Delicate flavours of yeast and citrus the finish is a little dry.

M - Medium body with low carbonation.

O - For a belgian pale ale you can get better examples. The flavours are a little unpronounced.
