This is the first Chimay beer I have had, and now I hope to try them all. Overall, it's a very solid beer, with great complexity that never gets overwhelming.
Appearance: A nice malty, dark brown finish
Smell: A mild fruity aroma, followed by an almost earthy scent
Taste: Here's where it gets interesting. At first, there was a complex malt presence that altered over the course of the beer. The malts were nice and not overpowering, and there was the slightest bit of cloves present. As the beer warmed up, and the pallet built up to the taste, the malts seemed to take on more of an earthy structure.
Mouthfeel: Meduim-heavy bodied, moderate carbonation. Alittle bit dry in the end.
Drinkability: High, granted I can afford more.
Serving type: bottle
