Ok, I'll admit it. I'm a Chimay'osceptic. There was a time when I was part of the enduring cult of Chimay but that was sometime ago.
It is fizzier and thinner (emptier??)than when I first drank it in 84 and there are many more clinging big bubbles too underneath the temporary reasonably foamy head. There's a slight metallic quality too. The trademark complex yet soft firm finesse backbone is long gone and there's very little interplay between the remaining elements. It is just rather duller than it should be.
Can't for the life of see why this beer is so loved on this site. Prime example of the Emperor's new beer.
