Pours a reddish brown with a generous, healthy head. Foam is slightly off white, veering toward a tan tone.
Nose is malty, sweet banana bread, and fig newtons.
Palate has a unique presence. Following the nose, I was anticipating something on the sweet side, but the actual taste goes into other territory. It offers a profile that is more sophisticated. Liquid bread, if the term ever really fit a beer - here is a meal in a glass. A initial dry carbonation yields to fruity notes (apricots, raisins) and then evolves to reveal sweet bread.
Mouthfeel is entertained with moderate caronation and a coating of the sweet bread. Much maltiness lingers on a lasting finish.
A quality beer.
