Small, stubby 330mL bottle into an imperial pint glass
A - Rough pour yields a foamy rocky head that dissipates to a thin cap. Pours a cloudy brown/amber.
S - Molasses, toffee, a bit of malt.
T - Pretty much as the smell, with molasses-like maltiness being predominant. The prototypical banana-like Belgian-yeast flavor is there, but is not prominent, which is fine with me. Get a bit of alcohol as it warms up, but really no hops to speak of.
M - Very smooth and almost creamy, as you might expect this being bottle-conditioned.
This is definitely NOT my style, but if I had to drink a Dubbel, it would probably be this one. Not a ringing endorsement, I know, but this is a pretty good beer.
