A - pours a clear red, nice white head, plenty of visible carbonation, no lacing.
S - clove, spice, fruit, very nice blend
T - smooth spice, a bit of fruit and some dark malt.
M - carbonation is too much for me at first, much better after sitting awhile. Thin body makes for easy drinking.
D - This is solid, but it's just not grabbing me.
This is my first taste of Chimay, I've previously sampled all the other trappist products except for La Trappe. For whatever reason, I find that most dubbels just sorta bore me, and this is no exception, despite it being a finely crafted beer. I'm looking forward to sampling the white and blue caps shortly.
