A 33cl stubby decanted into the ubiquitous Chimay chalice.
A cloudy deep red-brown liquid with a finger and a half of off white loveliness. It quickly fades leaving less lace than I expected but a few streaks here and there. A slight bit of carbonation evident.
Smell is deep and rich with sweet fruits and bready malt. Honey punctuates and broadens the sweet profile. While basic in it's makeup it is so well done you keep coming back for sniff after sniff
Taste is big and malty. Smooth sweet nectar of figs and honey. A touch of spicy, peppery alcohol. Dates and more dates.. Hops are mild and balance it perfectly. Finish is dry and slightly earthy with crusty dark bread
Mouthfeel is light and airy with cream and sugar
Drinkbility is super. You just sip and sip and it's gone. Alcohol hides well enough to press your ability to handel the 7% abv.
A real classic and standard dubbel.
