Into my challice this beer pours a butterscotch brown color. Very cloudy, can't see through it, some sediment is visible in it. About a quarter inch of head that disappears fast.
This smells absolutely great. I detect a lot of sweet breadiness, raisins, and a scent of spice like that of cinnamon. Lots of fruitiness to it as well.
Great taste. Very bready and malty, but not in a heavy way. The yeast flavors are there and very prevalent. The fruitiness from the smell is also in the mix, it's all very well balanced. Those monks know what they are doing.
light-medium bodied and moderate carbonation. Very smooth.
Very easy drinking beer, modest ABV, and great pairing ability with foods. As an additional note, I ate a chocolate covered cherry while drinking this beer and it went perfectly with it.
Highly enjoyed this trappist ale.
