Served in a pint glass.

Appearance: Superior gold, light bubbles on the body. The usual white head maybe 2/5" off the body (not bad at all). Just looking at it in the glass makes you think it should be part of a commercial.

Smell: Smells bitter if that makes sense, dry hop scent that you will like but not the type you fall in love with.

Taste: Good hop taste, lightly bitter that comes off a notch creamy. Not bad.

Mouth: Medium carbonation, not so sticky as I would like but most pilseners aren't.

Overall: On a hot summer like day like today this beer is much more appreciated. aI do like it and hell yea I would buy it again, Salud!

Poured into a Schaumburger pilsner glass. Pours a clear, medium golden amber with a thin white head that dissipates to a ring around the glass with spotty lacing. Aroma of biscuit malt and light grassy hops with the light but distinct eau d'skunk butt. Flavor is sweet biscuit and bready malt, a hint of wheat and light grassy hops. Hop finish is very muted. Fortunately no skunking flavors in the taste. Light to medium bodied. A mild, slightly sweet pilsner that hits all the right notes for style, but is average. Another brewery that chooses some odd "look" over aroma and taste by choosing green bottles. Baffling.

Bottle poured into a Sam Adams glass. Two finger foam quickly settles into a solid cap. Faint carbonation in a pale yellow liquid. Smells of grains and grass. Tastes of grains with slight bitterness in the end. Light mouthfeel . Nice, inexpensive, pleasant drinking beer.

Poured from a green 11.2 oz. bottle. Has a pale yellow color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of grains, malts, just a touch of skunkiness. Taste is malts, slightly sweet, some grains, a touch of bitterness at the finish. Refreshing and easy drinking. Feels light in the mouth and overall is a good session beer.

My local, in-person trader, tone77, dropped by last night for a pick-up of CANs and to drop off some gems that he collected while on a trip to Japan! There was one lone bottle in the mix and I decided to get it out of the way as The CANQuest (TM) is in full swing and I do not want to lose the momentum.

From the bottle: "Premium Pilsener"; "Imported German Beer"; "Pilsener Style Beer"; "Brewed according to the 'German Purity Law'"; "Nec Aspera Terrent"; "Product of Germany".

I was anxious to get started, so I poured as I typed and while I initially had two fluffy fingers of bone-white head resembling the top of a vanilla ice cream cone, they slowly fell, leaving beautiful sticky lacing in their wake. Color was a beautiful straw-yellow with NE-quality clarity and loads of CO2 bubbles in evidence. Nose smelled heavily of toasted malts, underlain by a lightly grassy hoppiness. Mouthfeel was medium and the taste was slightly bitter and grassy with a bready, biscuity sweetness accompanying it. Finish was semi-dry and the hops were a little more prevalent than I would prefer in this style, cleaving it closer to a Czech Pils.

That is NOT to say that I did not enjoy it. My local, where I play trivia on Wednesday night, had a clearance special on their Fest-Bier and it was equally good. Wolters seems to know what they are doing and if I could get their beers in a CAN, so much the better.
