Poured into a pint glass.
A: Dark amber. Agressive pour yields a one finger creamy tan head. Good looking beer.
S: Citrus hops first then balanced out by malts. Not very fragrant and actually kind of flat.
T: Malty up front with very mild hop bitterness. Not as hoppy as I would expect from an American IPA. More malts in the finish.
M: Smooth. Medium to light body with moderate carbonation. Good drinkability.
O: When I pick up an IPA I am looking for something with a good hoppy character. This beer misses that mark significantly. It's not a bad beer but just is not what I would consider a good IPA. If it were offered to me again I would not turn it down. I will not be seeking this one out.

full discosure: i am trying this for the first time tonight after drinking a Stone IPA and a New Belgium Ranger IPA, both of which are superior to this brew.
poured from a bottle into a large tulip glass, it developed a HUGE head, that settled to about 1" thick. Color is a nice amber, like most of the ales sold at Costco.
there is almost no hops in the aroma or on the tongue. It is simply a decent amber ale with nice malt notes, slightly sweet, but not an IPA in the sense that it doesn't have any of the hop notes that you would expect.
hope that someone at Costco is working to improve their "handcrafted ale" series, cuz right now, there's no real draw here. I admit the price is reasoable, but I would rather spend a few more bucks and get an IPA that tastes like an IPA...
