A pale hued counterpart to our winter seasonal Hibernale. In keeping with the Belgian traditions of naming, this devious style of beer is named after Beelzebub himself. Each batch of this Belgian-style beer was brewed with 666 pounds of pilsner malt. We balanced the fiendish malt bill with an ample dose of continental hops for a true Belgian experience.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of yeast, spices, toffee and toasted bread. Sweet caramel, toffee and malt with some fruity flavors and a spicy bite.

-Enjoyed on tap at Denali brew pub, Talkeetna AK. 2020
A: Served in a chalice at their actual brew pub. A slightly hazy golden orange is medium dark with a slightly creamy covering. The head is milky, with some texture and has a bit of light carbonation below. A good lace pattern decorates the glass.
S: Spicy golden fruit for aroma, shows signs of pear and dried peach. A small peppery touch follows, along with dried apricot of moderate strength. The yeastiness is good, complimentary, and of a noticeable factor, some dankness, but overall generally clean.
T: The flavor had some spicy golden fruit, golden raisins, juicy pear, and some canned fruit. Throw in some dried apricot and oaky notes for support. There is some peppery spicing that adds to the flair, along with some apple fruit and smooth noticeable alcohol tones that give this some credit in the abv department per style. (9.7%) I do believe. The pilsner malt base is perfect per style, grainy.
M: The body and mouthful is nice, near full body, crisp, and grainy with a syrupy thickness. A soft amount of carbonation tends to give this a bit more of a fuller body.
O: Overall the alcohol (9.7%) is nicely hidden here, with a very drinkable approach. Not enough breweries commit to the Belgian style nowadays, nice to see Denali push this for some exposure. I would give this very good marks, 89 nearing outstanding quality if it had a bit more yeasty Belgian bite/dankness/horseblanket for my tasting. As an American interpretation it is balanced, well drinkable, and sure to make new fans of the style in the immediate area, as evident in the crowds at the brewery.
