Pours a solid three finger head from a very turbulent pour. Pure, snow-white head with good retention. Brew is a cloudy, translucent golden straw color with lots of slow-moving bubbles. Very nice lacing, coming through in webbed layers.

Citrus and pine notes, with some wheat malt, and possibly some caramel malt. Hints of orange peel and honey. Balanced, subtle aroma.

Bright and refreshing flavor: sharp and dry hops, just a hint of citrus peel with some pine. Really follows the nose, but very nicely. Malts come through in the balance, and a bit on the backend, as slightly flat honey.

Mouthfeel is a bit watery and bright. Refreshing, a little dry, but not overly so.

This is a tasty IPA, very straight forward. I'm sadly reviewing it not particularly fresh, but I had one about two months ago, and I recall the hops were brighter and tastier. If you can get local Alaskan brews, this is definitely an IPA to try out. I would consider this a pretty good every-day IPA if available.

Thanks to blackcloud for the trade!

Poured into a Dogfish Head pint glass. Pours a clear, medium golden amber with a healthy three finger white head that dissipated slowly, leaving chunky lacing. Nice aroma of orange citrus, light tropical fruit, bready malt and light piney hops. Flavor is citrus and piney hops, orange family citrus, light sweet malt. Finishes with moderate bittering and piney hops, rather dry. Medium body. A nicely made, hoppy IPA, I would have preferred a bit more flavorful malt body to support the intensity of bitterness, but enjoyed this uncommon visitor to the lower 48. I will definitely try their other beers as I encounter them.

From 12 oz can to pint glass

A: A yellowish tan in color, clear, a gentle pour forms a relatively sudsy head, leaving patchy lacing.

S: The nose if fairly subdued with hints at husky grain and honey sweetness, followed by a touch of lemony citrus and a floral aspect. Relatively malt-forward.

T/M: A little more hop-forward on the palate, the lemon and honey notes hit up front. A bready complexion carries a fairly straight-forward balance of flavors, simple yet refreshing. Slightly vinous hop tones work toward a dry finish, with lingering bitter residue.

A simple and refreshing IPA, with malty aspects and a flavor balance along the lines of IPA's you'd find in the northwest (not literally the northwest, but beer-region-wise)
