I like this funky little coffee house vibe here.
The staff was friendly and helpful, and seemed pretty knowledgeable about their beer.

I was hoping to stumble upon some of the tasty leftover lambics, but it was not to be... Instead I settled on a flight of 3 of the beers; the pale ale, the IPA, and the double ipa.

I liked the pale ale the best. The ipa was too malty for my tastes. The double IPA was decent.

I like the vibe in here more than the beer...

Thus place is about 5 miles or so north of Sunking, and traffic wasn't really too bad-- if you're in the area (and you're a bit of a ticker like me) make the drive and check it out.
Of course, if you're not a ticker, then feel free to skip it.

A: Very funky and comfortable coffee shop type atmosphere. A few couches and tables to sit at, chat with friends, and taste beer. Neat artwork on the walls and everything is bright and upbeat. A little small, but this is a tasting room. Cool futuristic looking growler fill machine.

Q: Everything is super fresh and of the highest quality.

S: Excellent service. Staff is super friendly and helpful.

S: Limited amount of beers available for growler fill. Taster flights and pints available. Sometimes there are lambics for sale as well.

F: This location does not sell food, but there is a different food truck outside almost every day.

V: Overall everything is nicely priced.

Came here to pick up my Sour Reserve bottle. Small inside with chairs and sofa. Seating for about 15 or so people. Very colorful like a quaint coffee shop. Staff are very polite and helpful. They gave me some great tips for bottle shops and a great beer bar in Muncie. I was also able to pick up a few Lambics from them, which was a pleasant surprise. They have a nice selection of upland shirts and other related items. This is a place to stop by if your in the mood for a quick beer. Not really set up to stay long. Staff enjoyed talking beer and this is always a plus.

This tiny depot is the Indianapolis Proxy for selling Upland beers only.
Size and atmosphere of a Starbucks, with 8-12 Upland beers for sale. Growlers, bottles, pints.

If you're already driving by this place on your way to Broadripple or downtown, its worth the stop to see if they have any lambics laying around.

The staff is helpful and courteous. There are a few younger female employees that are familiar with Upland beers and not much else. There is nice orange haired pierced faced guy who is wise to both Upland beers as well as other worldly beers. He's excited to talk about beer.

drove over to indiana to pick up RSVPed Upland sours (raspberry, kiwi, and persimmon) that I have been hearing soooo many good things about.

Nice clean tasting room with a small outside patio that in a back alley.

Service was stellar! 3 friendly and professional bar keep (not to mention attractive young women) who served us a sampler of the Upland beers. Including a wheat beer, the ipa, a pilsner, a brown ale, a porter, and a milk stout. Decently priced sample at 7.50 for six 4oz samples.

I though the lambics were a bit on the pricey side, but its a nice place with a mild hippie vibe going on here! U can dry your hands off in the bathroom with old t-shirts so that we don't waste trees by using paper products as the bathroom signs says!

Stopped in here to pick up some lambics with a couple other BA's. Don't blink, cause you'll almost miss it! Quite a bit smaller than I would have expected it to be. A few tables, a couple bar stools, and some couches make it a very relaxed, easy going atmosphere.

They have all of their year round beers on tap along with some seasonal beers. All available for growler fills too. The night we went they were pouring 6oz glasses of everything instead of pints.

The two girls working were very helpful and very knowledgeable of the beers they had. Very quick to offer refills and very friendly.

Only had about 7-8 beers on tap, so limited selection. They also don't offer food, so stop somewhere to grab a bite to eat before you come.

Overall, great place to hang out for a bit and enjoy a couple drinks.

Stopped by here the day after Winterfest 2011.

A- Tiny little place that looks more like a cafe place than a tasting room. I like the looks of it as it seems more artsy than what other places look. A couple couches and maybe some single chairs and that is it.

Q- The beers on tap were poured right but it seemed like everything was poured into pint glasses. There was good head on each beer without there being too much.

S- We were served prompt and most of our questions were answered quickly but not right all the time. I liked our bartender and to be honest he was pretty good altogether.

S- Selection was just Upland and only then a few select offerings from them. That was my biggest beef with this place.

Upland's tap room is a great little trendy place just south of Broad Ripple "proper." You have to be very driving by, though, or you'll miss it. It's not the largest of businesses, but is very cozy, and the couple of times I've been in, space has not been an issue (plenty of places to sit at those times).

Service was excellent, with the lovely girl behind the bar doing a good job of serving and describing the beers. Not sure I'd have said the same if I wasn't so knowledgable about Upland's brews, but maybe she sensed I was and didn't go into more detail than necessary.

I wish they had a larger selection of Upland's brews, but they do carry a nice assortmant, from their standards to their newer, bigger brews. It's a great place to try several Upland beers, in tasting flights, to see what you like.

I did like the T-shirt hand towel idea in the restroom, too, even if finding the restroom was a bit odd.

Just outside of the trendy Broad Ripple neighborhood, and in an established (not quite historic) area; the Upland Tasting Room has a quaint storefront that fronts the sidewalk proper for an almost-urban feel. Loosely based art deco design invites visitors in a very non-pretentious and artistic way. Upon entering the room, it could easily be mistaken for an art class, a tattoo shop, or a daycare. But alas, it's a beer-centric store with elements of artistic whimsy, earthy ruggedness, and playfullness. With beer related artwork around to catch the eye, it's difficult to sit on the worn sofas and chairs in fear that I'm missing something. Games, puzzles, sketch pads, and even a living fish bowl adorns the not-so-pristine decor. Though open and warming, the store might fit a dozen or so patrons before its comfort level would be questioned. With a hippie demeanor in mind, this beer shop would fit in nicely in Portland, Seattle, or Denver.

Regardless of the unique and challenged feel of the place, the beers are either big hits or slight misses with the Teddy Bear Kisses, Badder Elmer's Porter and Upland Valley Hefeweizen leading the pack while the Helios Pale and Rad Red Amber dull the mood just a bit. The Dragonfly IPA was quite a fair beer and settled somewhere in the middle.

The staff doesn't mind serving up three or six count flights- in fact, that's all they serve except for growlers to go and the glass-sized servings reserved for Sunday and Monday. Though oddly enough, this was the encouragement we needed to seek out other venues. If not, we could have spent hours too many washing down the Teddy Bear Kisses. The staff-gal was friendly and approachable enough although the headset that she wore did deter me from discussing much about the beers with her.

If memory serves me correctly, the 6 four ounce pours ran us about $8 and were well worth the price.

I really dig what they are trying to do; loosening up and creating a playful and earthy environment, I admit that the place could use some sprucing up or at least a good deep cleaning from time to time.

I love this place. Upland's selection of brews out of Bloomington is solid and I have never been disappointed. Like others have said the feel is laid back coffee shop - but with beer! Wednesday is discount growler fill night which cannot be beaten for value (Perfect timing too since I can get this one polished off in plenty of time to hit discount growler fill night Friday at Sun King). It is a little outside the Broad Ripple pub crawl zone, but for a growler fill crowd it works fine (quite conveniently between here and there for me).

The staff has always been friendly and knowledgable. Great for those of us who like to drink local (and often). This is the growler that get rinsed out and stuffed back in the trunk for the next pass.
