This is quickly becoming my go to IPA for the summer, which is fortunate since it just came out this Spring. It comes off like a big IPA and don't get me wrong, it is. But this is one well balanced IPA. With a caramel and biscuit maltiness to cut the impending hops flavor you are about to enjoy, this beer has it all. West coast hops really come through, and I love that it uses Mosaic and Citra, since they impart such a fantastic citrus, tropical fruit/ grapefruit flavor. It is no joke at 70 IBU and 7.1 ABV, but it lulls you into a false sense of complacency as it doesn't come off as overly alcoholic or dryingly bitter. This is a drinkable IPA with an awesome body and incredible flavor. Do yourself a solid and pick up a 6 pack. This is a can't miss.

The smell of this beer in really the thing that caught my attention. My buddy opened a bottle in his kitchen and all of the sudden it smelled like the tropics in 10 seconds. Great tropical notes to accompany a great hop base. One of my personal favorites but a little more difficult to track down. If you are able to - make sure you try one - you won't be sorry.

Wow! This one is a no-brainer, enjoy it! ... full flavor, without crushing my palate. The pronounced citrus aroma fooled me into thinking this was going to sit heavily, but it drinks nicely, well-balanced. After a few, I was not surprised to learn that it weighs in over 7 ABV!

Beautiful citrus and pine forward smell. Smooth mouth feel with a nice hoppy finish. Darker amber color, crisp and refreshing. Perfect hoppy drink for a crisp night out on the back deck or next to the fire. Strongly recommend checking out this well balanced IPA,

Amazing tropical aroma tangerine, grapefruit and pineapple. It is 70 ibu but very we'll balanced. I cannot wait to try it on draught. The list of Hops is impressive and it sure comes through in the flavor and aroma.

The name is cool and the beer will deliver.

341ml bottle, procured from the remainder bin of my local big box likka store.

This beer pours a mildly hazy, medium copper amber hue, with two fingers of loosely foamy, puffy, and somewhat rocky ecru head, which leaves some Mercator Projection sudsy lace around the glass as things steadily recede.

It smells of somewhat dank pine needles, muddled orange and grapefruit citrus pith, bready pale malt, a weak caramel sweetness, a touch of spicy yeast, timid white pepper notes, and further herbal, leafy hops. The taste is more of the same - almost funky, in a rain-soaked coniferous forest sense, acrid pine notes, plain pale and caramel malts, fading earthy yeast, and more herbal, weedy, and wet leafy hops.

The bubbles are duly present, and mostly of the innocuously frothy kind, the body a sturdy medium weight, and more or less smooth, the hops making minor ingress here, but not enough to really shake things up. It finishes strangely off-dry, the caramel and bready malt exhibiting strong lingering qualities, on par with the pine and citrus hop astringencies.

A veritable west-coast IPA from this pet project of Moosehead's long Canadian research arm, it would seem. Bitterly hoppy, and yet well balanced from the malt perspective (that's the qualifier, really?), and quite easy to drink and enjoy (whither the 7.1% ABV?), without any piddly qualms one might have in reserve, if you know what I mean. I know I do, I mean 'did', mea culpa.
