Considered to be the 8th Deadly Sin, a fastidious person is overly meticulous, has high standards, and is excessively sensitive to taste. You couldn't sum up our brewers better. 8th Sin is our killer new black lager, brewed with 8 different types of malt (yeah 8), that is black in colour with hints of espresso and chocolate in the aroma, a medium body and a smooth sweet taste in the finish.

Hop City 8th Sin Black Lager draft beer sampled at the seasonal opening of Rondeau Joe's in Rondeau Park on Victoria Day weekend. Moosehead is the corporate sponsor of this beer, and it is definitely not out of the mainstream. It is, however, a nice modest dark beer. It has a lot in common with a British dark mild (roasted malt palate with moderate alcohol and hop bitterness). 8th Sin worked wonders in washing down my order of fish and chips.

Garbage, throwaway beer that attempts to be all that it's not. I would have poured it in the drain, but I was given this at a gathering. Not worth a more specified description. If you like good beer, stay away.

Had it on tap and it was not over complicated but easily drinkable. Not what I would choose to impress a friend but definitely worth a try.

A fine black beer from an unexpected source! Pours a mahogany dark brown - clear with a fair off-white rocky cap. Aroma is perfect for the style - understated and malt-subdued, decent roast and light hops - Schwarzbier is not big on aroma, this follows the style in this respect. Flavour profile is very good for the style as well with big roastiness over subtle pale malts light supportive noble hopping perhaps verging to sweetness - medium bodied and not too dry in the finish where sweetness is attenuated. A very drinkable and tasty Thuringer styled black beer I’ll buy more.
